Editing my fun, Halloween-themed monster novel, "The Exodontists"!
It's a weird combo of literary and commercial fiction, revolving around the theme of family.

The Exodontists are a loving family, even if they aren't human. They dwell in an abandoned warehouse and satiate their need for teeth by practicing dentistry for willing clients...but when a Halloween store chain takes over their warehouse, they must adapt.

The plot is *chef's kiss* absolutely wild, but in the best way. Y'all know how wild my plots get. There's body horror. There's dark comedy. There's great prose--I really got to craft some awesome prose on this one.

Anyway, this is the story of how a monster family ends up having to go through a Halloween-themed torture gauntlet in order to rescue their weakest member--Boy, who is physically small--while also navigating family drama, and having no idea what Halloween is, so they're just...baffled by all these decorations and reformatted animatronics.

I'm releasing two novels in 2026

Hey, Huff crew!

I hope you're ready for more of my signature weird horror, because in 2026, you're getting not just one, but TWO full-length novels (and a novella, if I can manage to add another novella.)

THE EXODONTISTS, my whimsical Halloween novel about a monster family that has to fight to keep their home after Spirit Halloween takes over the abandoned warehouse they live in, is coming in Octobe Read more of this blog post »

Great concept, bland ending. The villains were destroyed too quickly for my liking.

I think my biggest gripe with this book is how pointless it feels. After all of the heart-wrenching plot events, deaths, mayhem, and powers that the main characters go

Plot? Where? Character development? Not here.

Honestly, I probably should've DNF'd this one right from the first paragraph, but I was so captivated and intrigued by the world building here that I had to keep going.

“To say: Through integration of our ugliest, most traumatized parts, we can finally realize that we are not Freaks or Traumatized or Actually Mentally-Ill. Trauma is part of the human experience. No matter how much we’ve been through or how awful it makes us, we never stop being human. Put more concisely: We’re simply human.”
Drew Huff, The Divine Flesh

“The part of us that's me argues about that; who defines love, what is love, isn't it all just chemical crap, invented by us, bought and sold by humans?
The part of us that's Axa tells me to shut up and LOVE, dammit.”
