Me:

A 25-year career in news media relations preceded my achievements as an author; which was highlighted by an Amazon 2011-12 (10-month) best seller for "The Ghost Chaser's Daughter".

I'm a fiction writer drawn to the dark side of life, whether it be skitterings behind the veil, or the stir of smoldering passions gone awry.

My literary influences include Gillian Flynn, Patricia Highsmith, and Margaret Atwood.

There are silences between the notes of music, and there should be silences in your writing. Too much is made of "writer's block". Some authors will go up to ten years without publishing a manuscript -- and that is just fine.

Be kind. Even to yourself! (less)

My best advice for aspiring writers is to show your best, most polished, 3rd party edited work. Because a mistake, is a mistake.

Use professional editors, designers, and put together a solid A-Team of book clubs and loyal readers to fine-tooth comb your pre-published manuscripts.

My A-Team of beta readers includes five of my best 'I'm a reader' girlfriends. Linda Hope Lee is my professional editor; Terri George designed my latest work, "Street of Broken People" - Kindle edition.(less)

Should Grandmothers Write Erotica?

my link text

SHE-CAT: Here Kitty, Kitty is a sassy little erotic edition to my author's bookshelf that most definitely has nine lives!

I originally wrote the word-play spoof in 2011 - the year my granddaughter was born. It was just before I went back to the news room, returning to the news media world as an arts and events columnist for my local news outlet.

Maybe the timing wasn't right? Maybe I'd b Read more of this blog post »

💕 Loved the premise; Loved the Franco era ‘tinting’ —
😛 Didn’t love the overwhelming cast.
Didn’t like the POV ‘start-the-story over from the beginning’ structure for each character.

Kind of a bumpy ride for our 5-member Everett WA book club, with one member dunning Hendrix' book with a 2-star review.

The majority of our discussion focused on whether 'Witchcraft..." shouldn't have been

Diana Hockley Hi Emily,
Thank you for adding The Naked Room to your "to read" list! As this is an Australian novel, there is a Glossary of Terms at the back of the book for when you come up against an Aussie-ism :) I have listed your book, Jenkins; Confederate Road Runner to read but it may be some time before I can read it. It looks as though I shall have to return my kindle wifi and get a kindle 3G reader because I can't hook into a server here in Australia. This is infuriating, but I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and just do it!

Diana

Emily Hill What a nice review of Jenkins. I literally stumbled on a mention of 'Jenkins: Confederate Blockade Runner' by AvidReaderBookReviews.com blogger, Lynnette Phillips and was as grateful for the mention as thrilled to read, a month later, that she truly enjoyed my debut novel.

Thank you, Lynnette...How nice of You http://avidbookreviews.blogspot.com/2...
