Hailing from Seattle, J.F. Slade attended the University of Washington, where she initially developed her love of writing. She then embraced her love of education and earned a science teaching credential from the University of California in Irvine. She now lives in the Seattle area with her husband and son, where she is a teacher and writes part-time.

I usually try to tackle a different part of the book and then revisit the difficult section later. Often, by working through other sections of the story, I can figure out what I was getting writer's block over. (This requires story planning in advance, however, or things can get very muddled.)(less)

Often, these ideas take off an…moreI've always had an active imagination. Things that I come across every day will get me thinking about a possible story. Often, these ideas take off and turn into something vastly different than what originally inspired them. Writing provides the perfect outlet for these ideas. In addition to novel writing, I am constantly writing short stories (usually in the science fiction or fantasy genres) that I've developed from these ideas. (less)

This Isn’t Love.
