Hailing from Seattle, J.F. Slade attended the University of Washington, where she initially developed her love of writing. She then embraced her love of education and earned a science teaching credential from the University of California in Irvine. She now lives in the Seattle area with her husband and son, where she is a teacher and writes part-time.

Often, these ideas take off and turn into something vastly different than what originally inspired them. Writing provides the perfect outlet for these ideas. In addition to novel writing, I am constantly writing short stories (usually in the science fiction or fantasy genres) that I've developed from these ideas. (less)
