I’m grateful to everyone who entered. In addition, I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know that I’m revising my review policy somewhat. Up until now, I’ve had a fairly hard and fast rule not to review books in the same genre in which I write (i.e., YA paranormal fantasy). It just didn’t feel right reviewing my “competition,” so to speak. Lately, however, I’ve had a number of requests for reviews, some from authors whose work I admire, and I’ve been forced to reconsider my self-imposed rule. As a result, you will be seeing more reviews of YA books from me. Most of them will be 4 or 5 star reviews for two reasons (1) if a book doesn't sweep me up and carry me away within the first twenty pages or so, I usually set it aside for more interesting pursuits; and (2) I believe that every author who actually finishes a book and brings it to publication has poured his or her heart and soul into the work, and I have no desire to trash someone else’s baby simply because I personally wasn’t into it. I’ll leave that delicate task to the pros. The exception will be when a book has received an enormous amount of press and/or paid publicity and just doesn’t live up to the hype. Then I believe it’s fair to advise readers not to waste their money.
