Writing, like anything else, is about putting in the work. If you can't think of anything good to write, write something bad. If you can't think of anything bad to write, write gibberish. Nothing gets the creative juices flowing like putting pen to paper and just doing it, but if you sit around and wait for brilliance to come to you, you're likely to be waiting a long time.(less)

It's great knowing that any random notion, even just an image, a feeling, a smell, can be the seed for a novel, a story, or an article. Nothing gets thrown away when you're a writer, it all just gets folded into the raw material you'll one day use for a project.(less)

G.K. Chesterton

Jerome K. Jerome
“Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing. ”
Jerome K. Jerome, Three Men in a Boat

“I distrust a man that says when. If he's got to be careful not to drink to much it's because he's not to be trusted when he does.”
Dashiell Hammett, The Maltese Falcon

Friedrich A. Hayek
“The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine the can design.”
F. A. Hayek, The Fatal Conceit: The Errors of Socialism

Thomas Szasz
“The proverb warns that, 'You should not bite the hand that feeds you.' But maybe you should, if it prevents you from feeding yourself.”
Thomas Stephen Szasz
