Hey there, fellow travelers of the dark… I’m Jack. Jack D. Ace.
Welcome to the stretch of road I’ve been driving down for years — the one that never quite ends, even when the headlights flicker and the radio goes static.I live in New York, the kind of city that never sleeps and sometimes never lets you forget the things that hide in plain sight. By day I’m elbow-deep in code and servers in a glass tower in Manhattan, fixing what’s broken and writing lines that keep everything running. By night… well, that’s when the real work begins.I’ve spent decades chasing the kind of stories that make your skin crawl because they feel possible. Real terrors — Ed Gein’s quiet house, objects that carry bad luck like a stain you can’t scrub off, the kind of

Hi Aisha, that’s a great question—and honestly, the answer is that the story usually comes first, not the inspiration.
I almost always have something in mind. A fragment. An image. A feeling. Sometimes it’s a classic horror motif twisted just slightly out of shape, sometimes it’s something I haven’t seen done before. With Ed Gein’s Car, for example, it started with that simple thought: what if there’s still a story hidden in something no one ever looked at closely enough?
I’m drawn to the spaces where horror already exists—in history, in rumor, in the things people whisper about but never fully explore. From there, the story builds itself. I just follow it and push it as far as it’s willing to go.
Best regards, Jack(less)

Dear readers, lovers of darkness,I just hit “Submit” on Pheretima: Princess of the Dawn at Amazon Kindle. And I couldn’t be prouder. After months of intense writing, I’ve finally brought to life one of the most savage, forgotten figures in history — a woman Herodotus himself only dared mention in passing.
