Alex Breck was born in Scotland in 1962. He studied at Aberdeen University. The many paths he has trodden since then include driving an ice-cream truck in Kansas, banking in San Francisco and teaching English (badly) in Madrid.
He's been a director of both a health club and a meat factory but would stress there was no obvious connection between the two.
He lives quietly on the beautiful West Coast of Scotland where he likes to ride his bike up and down hills much to the consternation of his family. The name Alex Breck is a pen name using an old family name and that of a historical ruffian who might be found in the fine novel Kidnapped.

In my newest thriller The Devil You Know, I wanted a 'shout out' for albinos because no-one else ever does. You don't get parades in support of 'albino lives matter' do you? And in the media they are usually portrayed as the villain. Oops... I might have fallen foul of that one. You'll have to read the book to find out! Another bug-bear of mine is governmental greed or hypocrisy so I'll never be short of a story will I? :) (less)

Amazon’s new ‘Ask This Book’ Feature – How It Impacts Authors

I have just found out that Amazon have begun the rollout of a new Kindle feature, called Ask This Book. It lets Kindle readers ask questions about the book they’re reading. They get AI-generated answers straight away, without them having to leave the book, so they stay in the flow of the story.

As far as I know, it’s only available in the Kindle iOS app for U.S. customers. But there are plans to ex

Classic MacBride fare, grim humour, on the nail storytelling and a deep understanding of the macabre workings of disturbed minds.
Not my favourite MacBride book but still a great read.

I read this off the back of a Spider Shepherd thriller which I had loved and, with Nightfall, I will admit the supernatural element wasn't particularly welcomed.
