Debra Doxer was born in Boston, and other than a few lost years in the California sunshine, she has always resided in the Boston area. She writes fiction, technical software documents, illegible scribbles on sticky notes, and texts that get mangled by AutoCorrect. She writes for a living, and she writes for fun. When not writing, she’s walking her Havanese puppy and forcing her daughter to listen to New Wave 80s music.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Sometime Soon! Thank you for your question. The truth is, I don't think I'll do anything more with those characters. I wrote the book while my sister was planning her wedding and lots of those scenes came from real life. Now I'm in a very different place with other stuff going on. But that book is definitely special to me. Although when my sister read it, she did not like my calling her car a dumpster on wheels. I told her that part was fiction with my fingers crossed behind my back. :)(less)

“Our hearts have already been broken. Maybe I can help to heal hers, even if it means ripping mine to shreds when she leaves and I have to say good-bye.”
Debra Doxer, Breaking Skin

“To be kissed like I’m someone’s everything.”
Debra Doxer, Harmful Rush

“When the girl you’re talking to is obviously cold, you offer her your coat,” Jonah said flatly.”
Debra Doxer, Like Candy

“Last time you called me late at night you were naked and chained to your shower curtain rod. I hope this isn't going to be disappointing.”
Janet Evanovich, High Five

“Does such a thing as 'the fatal flaw,' that showy dark crack running down the middle of a life, exist outside literature? I used to think it didn't. Now I think it does. And I think that mine is this: a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs.”
Donna Tartt, The Secret History

“I 'Facebook like' you, but I'm not IN 'Facebook like' with you.”
Jessica Park, Flat-Out Love

“She talked about wanting to be a part of something, wanting to be desired, to be 'special', craving to be loved. She talked about experiencing the kind of loneliness so immense it could swallow you up. She called it 'loneliness that crowds couldn't cure'.”
Cupcake Brown, A Piece of Cake

“...there is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.”
Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho
