AUD Book One's launch
October 23rd marks the three year anniversary of AUD's official launch.
Fitting then, that we take the next step forward in its life. We've solidified a bunch of good information on book one, and I want to share it.
Pages: 266
Cover Price: $13.95
Release Date: October 31st, 2013.
Technically it might be available a day earlier than that, but I want to take it safe and say the 31st. If there's a huge problem that crops up between now and then, the date might change, but other stuff should be all set.
I cannot tell you how much your support has meant to me over these three years. I'm serious when I say everyday I have a moment where I'm overwhelmed by what you folks say about the writing, or do for me personally.
I also cannot overstate how important it will be when AUD hits to have your support. Obviously, buying the book will be crucial to my long term success, and getting more AUD written, but I need more than just $13.95.
I need some of your time. I need you to write me a review on Amazon, or Goodreads, or Barnes and Noble. I need you to tell your family about it, tell your friends about, and share it on your Facebook wall once, twice, and more if you can.
I need you to tell your fraternity brothers, and your sorority sisters about it. Your knitting group, and your gun club.
Tell everyone about AUD, and why they should part with thier fourteen bucks for it.
Right now YOU have the opportunity to create something so much larger than the immense thing I've given to you. If you want a movie, I NEED this support. If you want AUD to be an everyday thing like The Walking Dead, I can't do it.
But you can.
Here's the almost finished cover too.
I love you guys.

Alone No More is now live!
Alright guys, as promised. To celebrate Veteran's Day, we pushed out book two, and by God, it is a thing of beauty.
To rank highly on the bestseller lists on Amazon, we are required to do a SHITLOAD of business in a single day. If you're going to buy a copy of ANM, Monday is the day. If we all buy them within 24 hours, AUD has a chance to break the top 500 of all books on Amazon, and if that's the case, we're gonna do some impressive shit. Dark Recollections managed to reach #802, which was awesome, but I think we can do a little better if we're a little more organized.
When and if you pick one up, PLEASE take a minute to write a short (or long) review. Reviews plus sales equals more readers, and more readers means more AUD. It's simple. If you're thinking of buying some for gifts, today is the day that your purchase can do the most amount of good.
I'm also asking you that on this day, Veteran's Day, when you pick up a copy of ANM, you take a second and realize that Veterans need love too. They gave up years to help keep us safe, and to allow our count(ries) to be what they are. Buy a book, say thank you to a Veteran. I'd appreciate, and so will they.
Amazon still has Alone No More split into two pages, and here are the respective links.
For the Kindle: http://www.amazon.com/Alone-More-Adri...
In Paperback: http://www.amazon.com/Alone-No-More-A...
Alright folks. It's time to make some dreams come true, and let others read Adrian's story.. I love you all, and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

All good things...
I just finished Tesser: A Dragon Among Us.
58 chapters, plus a prologue and and epilogue.
Just about 109,000 words, a good, healthy sized book.
I am INCREDIBLY proud of this novel. I think it's my best book so far. AUD was awesome, is awesome, but in terms of a well written book, I think Tesser is a better piece of work.
Finishing this book also means that I've just completed writing my TENTH novel. Tenth. You have any idea how frigging weird that is to think about? Most folks struggle with the work required to churn out a college paper, but here I am, writing away like a mad hermit, unable to stop myself from putting the pictures and words in my head onto paper.
Luckily, lots of you are into the words I write, and it's fun to share my stories, so I'll keep at it.
What now you ask?
There are a few publishers interested in looking at Tesser. They get to look at the finished final manuscript first, then I'll decide what to do with it. Will there be more story set in Tesser's world? Absolutely. It's a big world with a LOT of potential. I plan on writing many more books in that world eventually.
With all my free time I plan on focusing on finishing book two of Elmoryn: The Motive for Massacre. I'm eight chapters in, which is a little less than halfway, and I'd like to hammer down and get that one done so I can publish it.
I also will be working on the future of AUD. I still need to finish editing four of the AUD novels and that means re-writing and re-working some of the things that were rushed at the end, right when my divorce was in full swing, and my mother died. I'll be adding more content, and now I have the time to do it right.
What a day. A good holiday, wrapping up a book, and so much excitement to continue writing.
Glad to have you all along for the ride.

Book Three: Midnight is now live!
Alrighty kids.
We are just a few hours away from our target launch day for Book Three of Adrian's Undead Diary, and Amazon has organized the book's launch into two pages, as they do.
That means if you want to start buying Midnight, you may do so. The later in the day you order the better, and if you can wait until Sunday, that's fine too. Clustered orders means a better chance at making a bestseller list, and bestseller lists means more visibility.
Here are the current links to Midnight on Amazon:
Kindle:
http://www.amazon.com/Midnight-Adrian...
Paperback:
http://www.amazon.com/Midnight-Adrian...
If you can spare the time, please please please write me a review, and rate the book. Reviews are my lifeblood, and each one counts.
Thank you all for your continued support as always, and make sure you take some pictures of your new books when they arrive!

My year, and the year to come.
2013, in a nutshell.
What a year.
I'm sitting here on my couch, Breaking Bad playing in the background, laptop in my lap, and I'm about to get down to work on editing book five of AUD, Wrath. Wrath is getting some substantial additions to it, and I'm excited to finish writing them. Hopefully you're as excited to read them when the book drops.
I didn't come here to talk about Wrath though, I came here to talk about the year in total.
Personally, it's been a great year. My day job is frustrating because I have a frustrating job. I work in a high stress, potentially physically dangerous environment, and though I feel I am good at my job, there are days when the grind gets to me. I'm blessed with some amazing people on my team though, and between them and knowing that I am making a huge difference in people's lives, I'm kept happy.
Yay for that.
As a writer, 2013 could be described as 'the day I hit the scene.' Sounds funny to say that in the wake of AUD's launch in 2010. We're three years past it coming out to the public, and despite the huge following the website has had, with no actual completed novels for purchase, I haven't been an 'author' in the traditional sense.
All that changed with the launch of The Wrath of the Orphans, and quickly after that, the first three books of Adrian's Undead Diary: Dark Recollections, Alone No More, and Midnight. I now have four novels available for purchase, both in Kindle and print form.
You have no idea how strange a concept that is for me.
I'm proud, don't get me wrong. The work I've put into AUD and all of my other work is substantial, and to release it to the greater world through traditional channels and then get some true official credibility for it has been a life changing thing for me.
It's also been a trip to get all the reviews from you readers. Clearly you feel overwhelmingly positive about Adrian's story, and Wrath. Within the first two months book one racked up over a hundred five star reviews, and as of this writing, it's the sixth highest rated horror and fourth highest rated science fiction book on all of Amazon.
Pretty incredible, and I owe you all a huge debt of gratitude for that.
My hope is that sometime mid-year with the release of books four and five of AUD, plus the release of book two of Elmoryn: The Motive for Massacre, I'll be able to either cut back to part time at my day job, or do the big thing, and call it quits and start writing full time.
I should also announce that the first book of A Dragon Among Us will be published next year as well, though the time frame for that hasn't been established yet. Summer at the latest it would seem. If these plans go, well, according to plan, that'll give me eight books in circulation in the next six months, and between all of them, I hope to earn enough royalties to be a full time author.
I'm optimistic.
So that's the story of what I've already written going into 2014. If you've stuck around to this point, then you'll be excited to hear what I've got planned for new stuff for 2014.
Obviously, the remaining books of the Adrian's Undead Diary series will be published. The Failed Coward, Wrath, In the Arms of Family, The Trinity, and Cassie should all be released by September. I'll be adding to each of these books, most notably starting with book five. Several thousand words will be added to round out elements of Adrian's tale, and making them flow better. I'll also be beefing up the writing more notably as it gets closer to the end of the series. I was dealing with a divorce and the death of my mother when I wrote it all, and even though I'm happy with it, I can make it better.
I plan to.
I'll also be continuing the story of Adrian Ring beyond book eight. The details are still coming together, but I think I've got at least three more novels I can write with Adrian, possibly more, and as I edit and write more in the existing AUD stuff, the itch to revisit it grows more powerful. So dance for joy, sometime in 2014 there will be new Adrian stuff to read.
I'll be finishing the third book of Elmoryn as well. I don't have a title for it yet, but that'll be a huge deal for me, as Elmoryn actually predates AUD. Seeing the trilogy through to the end will be very special for me. If you haven't read Wrath yet, please give it a chance. I'm very proud of it.
I'll also be starting on a second book set in Tesser's world. I've got a LUDICROUS amount of ideas for stories in that universe, and I can easily say I think I could write a Tesser novel every year for the next ten years.
Beyond that…
I've got an idea for another novel, a standalone that would be unconnected to anything I've written already, and even though I've got a full slate, I'll be developing that in the background. No details yet, but I think it'll be fun.
So yeah. There it is. The year of 2014 for Chris Philbrook, as seen by me, at the end of 2013.
We'll see how it goes. As Adrian has said, 'no plan survives first contact.'
At least I know I won't have to do it all alone. Thanks to you all for everything up 'til now, and thank you in advance for all that you'll continue to do. You mean the world to me.

At Least He's Not on Fire
Alright kids, here it is.
In an effort to promote all three of my major writing projects, Alan, Ian Llanas and I have been working to create a special eBook to be posted for sale, for free.
It's almost ready for publication, and is entitled 'At Least He's Not on Fire: A Tour of the Things That Escape My Head.''
It will contain the beginnings of all three of my major writing projects: Adrian's Undead Diary, Tesser, and Elmoryn, as well as three short stories. Two of the stories have never seen the light of day.
The two entirely new stories are called "Hell Hole," and "The Vampire of Menlo Park."
In addition to all that, it'll also have some 'behind the scenes' stuff about how and why some of these stories came about, which will be a fun read if you're already an existing member of the "I read Chris Philbrook's writing club."
At Least He's Not on Fire goes on sale hopefully at the end of the month, perhaps sooner.
Thanks to Ian Llanas for getting the cover done so quickly, and to such a high degree and also to Alan for being such a huge part of my creative process before you guys even HEAR about my ideas, and for all the work he does with my cover arts, and interior layout and design.
Please please share away! Let folks know that very soon they'll be able to get their mitts on some free me!
Thank you all on the support of Tesser's release. As I've said multiple times, I do honestly believe it's the best work I've done, and I hope it launches my name into a whole new literary genre, and helps me achieve that silly dream of becoming a writer.
Thank you all.

Only the Light We Make
Announcing open submissions for 'Only the Light We Make' Volume Three of Tales from the world of Adrian's Undead Diary.
With a foreword written by Mark Tufo and similar in theme to volume one, OTLWM will be composed of short stories written by fans and authors from the genre, as well as a handful of stories written by myself to further the world of Adrian Ring.
I've already gotten several exclusive submissions from some of the post-apocalyptic genre's finest authors, and there are many more to come. The always talented James Foster has agreed to narrate the book as well.
This will be a star-studded anthology if there ever was one.
Here's your chance to nab some fame, and some cash. OTLWM offers print copies, pdf and mobi versions, as well as audio copies usable via Audible. It is also a paying anthology @2.5 cents per word.
If you have a post-apocalyptic story you'd like to submit, you may message me on Facebook, or here on Goodreads for the email address to do so. Please set your stories in the world of Adrian Ring, following the rules set forth in the books. You may use any of the canonical characters, but if your story alters the timeline of the core tale, or its future, your story will be passed on. Stories should be between 500 and 7,500 words.
Manuscripts should be formatted in Times New Roman or Calibri, 12pt font and should be in .docx format. Do not use underlines to emphasize text. Stories are due to me for evaluation by September 30th, 2016.
Planned publication for Only the Light We Make is early December, and pre-orders will go up sometime in September.
And then, The Last Resort.
