Heather Wardrup began writing poetry at the age of fourteen and shifted to fiction while in college. After earning her degree in drafting and design she worked for several years in the aerospace industry before becoming a stay at home mom. She is currently employed doing drafting and design work for an architectural firm and fits writing in every free moment she can find. An entire day with nothing but her imagination and her laptop would be a dream come true. Heather's writing spans several genres since she enjoys so many and hates to have to pick just one. If I push through it and just write whatever comes to mind I can always go back and revise and/or edit whatever it took to get those creative juices flowing again. On occasion I have to delete it all because what came flowing out was complete nonsense. And sometimes it's nothing more than the characters have stopped talking, or I'm trying to take the story in a direction that's not true to the story the characters are sharing with me. In that case I take a break, do something else for a little while and then get back to the business of putting the story they tell me on paper instead of trying to direct it.(less)

“I want to see you.

Know your voice.

Recognize you when you
first come 'round the corner.

Sense your scent when I come
into a room you've just left.

Know the lift of your heel,
the glide of your foot.

Become familiar with the way
you purse your lips
then let them part,
just the slightest bit,
when I lean in to your space
and kiss you.

I want to know the joy
of how you whisper
