“But what if you are a smart girl in love? All because I was a book nerd didn’t mean, I didn’t feel, I didn’t want. Shylock had cried out in excess of pain, “If you prick me do I not bleed!” But a book nerd is not allowed to be human, to say “you make me melt” and still have her mind want something else entirely?”

“She came downstairs like a doe stepping into a clearing on the first day of hunting season. I felt like a coward. I was lower than dirt. I had used every trick in my book to get her to come downstairs. I had manipulated her emotions, cheated and wormed to beat her at this game we were playing. But then I saw her, and I was so happy. I knew I would have burned the building down for the sight of her running toward me out of the flames.”

“When I was with him, I felt like a book worth reading all the way through again and again and again. Sure, he liked my cover. I wanted him to, but I wanted him to like everything else too. I imagined him buying the book, studying it, quoting it, memorizing his favorite parts. He’d keep it with him always, like a Bible, hold it sacred even when the cover fell off and the book became bent with age and use. Maybe, he’d be buried with it. That’s all I wanted.”

“Well, you know. Some people are like wolves and some are like bears. And bears and wolves don’t go together. You don’t see me trying to convince you to be a wolf? So, why are you trying to convince me to be a bear?”
I could hear him blinking on the other side of the line. “Can you translate that into English?”
“Wolves mate for life. Bears hit and run.”

“When you fall in love, when Love really does its worst, it gives you no cause. It swallows you whole. It allows no refusals. Like Jonah only after he had been inside the whale awhile, you may say, if asked, “Oh, this is why I am here.”

“I knew that people said love should be unconditional, given like a dog gives to its master, but what Being could give that way? What could love though it had been kicked and beaten? What could go kissing the hand of its tormentor with upturned eyes? I didn't know. Perhaps Jesus, perhaps the Dalai Lama, but I couldn't. I had a condition, the way life has conditions to live, the body must have certain conditions to grow, and Cristien had to meet mine or I could not live. I could not.”

Madrid, Spain (esp. Las Letras) is a city for writers (Cervantes, Lope De Vega.) I finished 1/3 of a novel and two short stories. Now in Seville, drinking not writing. It's 99 degrees!
Effed Up: An Abnormal Romance is now #4 in Kindle Bestseller for Humorous Dark Comedy! Thanks to all my fans!
Today we are having a perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system or a Supermoon. It is also the first day of Spring and the Hindu New Year! Celebrate good times! Come on!
Made a new fun cover for Effed Up:An Abnormal Romance! A book that lovingly mocks the conventions of paranormal romance novels.
There is a difference between love and sex. Love is an emotion. Sex is an action. If you get the two confused, don't be surprised if your heart gets broken. . . a lot.
One of the greatest difficulties people face is trying to find balance between their immortal souls and their very mortal bodies.
Just got back last night after 25 days abroad! I miss peanut butter, my pillow and bed, coconut water and laundry! Loved Barcelona. It's like New York, cosmopolitan and with great food but more relaxed. Sicily was amazing too! Mountains and seascapes to die for!
Looking for a book with poetry, quotes from great literature and an uplifting positive love story that will make you think? Try
If you could see me,If we could see us,
You would know
That you and I
Are light
Travelling through life,
Souls driving limbs and bowels,
Essence wearing presence.
If you could see me,
You would know
That we are all gods
Doing time
In the prisons
Of our minds.
Thanks to all my friends and fans "The Innocent: A Myth" is now #1 in Metaphysical Fiction and #3 in Romance Fantasy! You're the Greatest,
Candice Raquel Lee
I could never be a snow flake. They would fire me the next day.
I would never jump from the clouds.
I would cling weeping to the wisps.
And when they had pried my last
Finger from the silver lining, I
Would not go silently, gracefully.
No. I would scream and cry and
Flail and tumble rudely.
As the first trees came into sight,
I would not slide, I would not stack.
No. I would scrabble, breaking, and
Spitting and cursing to the ground.
Then when I had settled upon the others
Gleaming over the earth their many eyes
Twinkling with joy and splendor and
The light of the sun or the moon,
I would stand up on their heads, on
Their shoulders yelling, “Again,
Again!”
The Goodreads Giveaway is over! Thanks to all the 835 of you who entered and the 420 who added me to your "to-read shelves"! To those not receiving a book, there will be a free day on Amazon this Thursday to Friday (March 6-7). For those who get the book free, I ask if you could do me the great favor of taking the time to write a short review on Amazon and or Goodreads. Share the Love,
Candice
