Bob Rich, PhD, is a visitor from a faraway galaxy, where he is an historian of horror. So, Earth is his favorite place in the universe. Nowhere else do sentient beings engage in a game of killing non-combatants (war). Nowhere else are child raising practices designed to harm children. And delicious for an historian of horror: nowhere else is the entire global economy designed to destroy its life support system.
Here on Earth, he is disguised as an Australian storyteller, with 20 published books, six of which, and over 40 short stories, have won awards.
He has retired five times so far. He still works as an editor for several small publishers and a steady stream of writers.
Above all, he is a Professional Grandfather. Anyone born since 1993 is

I've just taken on a major editing job: a book about the wonderful Thai alternative to the global economy that is driving us toward extinction.

My ongoing current project is "The Art of Writing: An editor's advice on creating page-turner fiction and effective nonfiction."

But this has taken a backseat, because recently it led to a fun science fiction book with no title yet:

Bill doesn't know that he has superpowers. All he knows is that aliens have tried to abduct him three times so far.(less)

I've been working on a self-help book for writers, and started the chapter on how to bring characters to life. I made up a couple of examples -- and they demanded to continue. So, I am having fun with a new story.(less)

I have an excuse for being away

I haven't visited Goodreads for a while, but the result is a new book I've just published.

Guardian Angel is my entry to Amazon UK's "Storyteller contest." For the present, I have listed it at the minimum price possible, which is 99 Australian cents, or 75 US cents.

My beta readers have all been very enthusiastic about the final version, which is about the 50th revision. :)

This is a very Christian book about healing from grief. And yet, right up front is a very Buddhist quote from the Dalai Lama.
