T in a box. Sonora, Calif.
From Colin Washburn: "1925 Model T Ford, 100 years old! Delivered new — in boxes — to Sonora, Ca., where it’s been all these years. Body solid; no paint, total rust-brown patina, but no holes in body. Floor boards — literally! — are from the crates car was delivered in. Newer tires and re-done upholstery are only improvements.I got a ride in it on Thanksgiving day …… starts right up and is geared high, moves out surprisingly fast. As basic and simple as they come. Old Henry knew his stuff, and built good cars!"
AL: We posted on a 1913 cross-country journey in a Model T. Also a 1927 T in Saskatchewan and a 1917 Model T in Maine.

1983 Land Rover 110. Blue Hill, Maine.
We first posted Gene Mirolli's L-R twelve years ago, just after it had arrived from the UK Glad to see it on the road and looking good. What's downeast Maine like in November? It can be grey, and the days are short...it's dark at 4pm. But whenever there's light in the sky, which there often is--& there have also been lots of clear, sharp, blue days this fall–it's a light show. All kinds of light, silver to pink to green–to that hard blue that comes in on a NW wind.

1974 Mercedes-Benz 220 Diesel
These were very hardy cars and very often taxis in Europe. "Not fast, though", the owner of this one reminded us. It's a low-mileage car and had spent many years in storage. Looked very clean and original. I hope it doesn't see too much Maine winter. Here's a 240D from the 1980s we posted from Cambridge. And the plain jane c. 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 we saw in Texas. And that c.1960 190D Benz we saw in Taos. Here's a 1969 250 SE in Blue Hill, Maine.

1947 Dodge Fluid Drive coupe
David Branch photographs. Del Rio, Texas. And here's a 1949 Dodge Business Coupe that was for sale, up in Alberta, the Northern end of the North American buffalo range. And from the glamorous Exner era, a 1963 Dodge Custom 880. Speaking of Texas...

Ken Jones and Dodge panel truck at Yoho.
Thanks to Colin Washburn for the heads up on this Ken Jones photo. In April 1959 Ken was building a warden cabin at McArthur Lake in Yoho National Park, in the British Columbia Rockies. (Canadian parks have Wardens, not Rangers.) Colin writes " I hiked into Skoki with the old sage/mountaineer. I was 45, he was 85. I never cited more than five minutes before he caught up." AL remembers skiing with Ken out of Skoki around that time. He was a soft-spoken mountain man who loved that country and knew it as well as anyone.

Volvo PV544 and Volvo Canadian
From the files. This was somewhere Nordic. And we posted a PV544 from Rotterdam a while ago. These were popular (relatively speaking) in Canada in the 1960s. The first Volvo built outside of Europe was a black 1963 Volvo 122 at Volvo assembly plant in Nova Scotia. 122's were badged as Volvo Canadians.
