LIFE IS NOT A BED OF ROSES (PART-7)

She left the letter under pillow, half side visible. She took her bag and moved out of her house. Manpreet was already waiting outside her street. She met him. They both went to railway station and took a train to Patiala, at 1 a.m.

On the other side, Radhika’s mother woke up in morning. She went to Radhika’s room. Like every day, she went to her room to wake her up but it was a shock for her; Radhika was not in her room. She checked out whole house including washroom etc. but no, she wasn’t anywhere. Poor old lady didn’t know how far her daughter had moved.

Then she checked out the main gate of their house. It was unlocked. It was surprise as well as shock for her. She shouted loudly and started crying. She had judged what had happened. Radhika’s father came out from their room. He asked her with a normal gesture “what happened?”

Radhika is not present at home and main gate is unlocked. He too got tensed and asked “what??”

“Yes. She is not anywhere. I checked out everywhere.” said she.

Then, he went to Radhika’s room. He took the half visible letter and read it. Tears were continuously flowing from his eyes. “What happened?” Radhika’s mother asked.

“Nothing, just our small child has become big and now free to choose and do whatever she wants. She has to go one day, so let it be today.” After saying this and handling letter to his wife, he went to his room.

Radhika’s mother read the letter and cried a lot. But soon she too understood that now they couldn’t do anything. Whatever has to happen, had happened. They both missed her very much. But what could have done now? They didn’t want disgrace in society so they couldn’t do anything openly. SOCITY SUCKS, in some way though!!

They secretly tried to find her but couldn’t. They tried hard but all went in vain. Radhika’s mother was very upset due to all this. She was not even eating properly. So, his father made her understand that Radhika never loved them. If she did, then she had not preferred the relation of 24 months over relation of 24 years. He requested her to forget Radhika and try to consider her died for them. So, when other people asked them about their daughter, they used to tell them that she went to foreign for further studies.

That night, Manpreet and Radhika both reached Patiala at 5 a.m. Then he took her to his home at nearby village. His parents got shocked and soon they let them enter.

As they enter in house, Radhika found out, it was a small old fashioned house with 2 rooms; Radhika was viewing this type of house for the very first time in her life. She could easily guess from the house conditions that how tough life was going to be in coming future but she was determined and strong minded.

Then, Manpreet told everything to his parents. His parents accepted them in one go. But, when they came to know that she ran from her house and is a daughter of very rich family.

They talked to her like Manpreet did earlier. They tried to make her understood that how tough life she had to face living with them. They said her to return back and not to spoil her life. But No, she was prepared. She said them that she wanted to live with them only. After few arguments and discussions and before her madness, they gave in and accepted her open handed.

Few days passed, life came back on track again and attained its speed. She lived happily with Manpreet. She missed her parents for a while but the single look into Manpreet’s eyes made her realized that she took the right decision.

On the other hand, this news spread in whole village that a poor worker’s son got married to a beautiful city girl. There was a lot of stuff people were saying, some were like ‘he kidnapped her, some were uttering that they had love marriage’ etc. Everyone saw her with respect. She was like big personality in a small village.

But, everyone cursed her that she got married to a useless poor and unemployed person. Whenever Manpreet walked in village, everyone passed lewd comments and curse him for spoiling girl’s life. It was becoming difficult for him to hear all this. He started feeling guilty for marring with Radhika and he too started feeling that he spoiled her life. As he too felt that Radhika was not fully comfortable with such poor living conditions. She had never put her feet outside A.C. but here, electricity came only for few hours and even when there was electricity she had to live under fan. Thank god they had fan… old one though. There were lot of things which were making her uncomfortable but she never complained. How could she? It was her decision.

Manpreet never touched Radhika or made love with her. She was pure as he wanted her to remain pure. He didn’t want her to lose her dignity. He didn’t want all this from her. All this was secondary to him but primary thing was to get settle down first.
