Whether you're an avid reader or just beginning your reading journey, you're invited to join a community that celebrates books of all genres and reading at every pace. Participate in optional reading challenges, share your latest reads, exchange recommendations, write reviews, and enjoy conversations with fellow book lovers. Our goal is to inspire a consistent reading habit while creating a friendly and respectful environment where everyone feels welcome. There are no strict reading requirements. "It's like a cross between ____ and ____ with a little Harry Potter thrown in." "YOU'VE NEVER READ ____?!?" You know the drill. Your friends reference it, your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/"sort of thing?" raves about it, even your favorite movies quote it, or it IS your favorite movie but you've never read the book. This group is for those of us for whom one of the following may apply... - we have finally developed a taste for reading and are severely behind on classics; - we kindaaa, sortaaa, but actually slept through English class in high school and used Sparknotes/Hollywood remakes to write our book reports; - we buy a book that everyone is talking about and it sits on our shelf, and sits there... and sits there; - we've heard the hype and are finally getting around to reading the actual book; - we want to expand our horizons beyond the single genre we usually read and want to do so with some time-tested material; - we just plain old want to get everyone off our backs for not having read _____. Every month we'll choose three books to read: 1) a classic (that everyone has probably read but us), 2) a "modern" classic or popular book that everyone is talking about, and 3) a bookshelf catch-up in which we choose a book the group has already read to catch-up with other members.

[close] We're here because we like reading and we like chatting about reading. But we are here especially because we strongly believe that reading is not just something we do alone, but something that can unite people of different kinds, all over the world! This group really is all about books! In terms of group reads we have a monthly fiction book and a bi-monthly group read of a classic. We feature dedicated sections for non-fiction, poetry, short stories and drama. We also have weekly poetry postings (the Monday Poem). Quarterly there is a group discussion of non-fiction books in which members are encouraged to read books that relate to a specific theme and another theme for short stories. We feature a yearly challenge which varies from year to year in form. In addition, we have a section for people to post their yearly personal challenges and books read during the year.

Founded on the principles of curiosity, respect, and intellectual exchange, The Literary Exchange encourages open dialogue, diverse viewpoints, and genuine engagement with every featured work. Members are invited to participate in discussions, discover new authors, and share thoughtful reflections that enrich the reading experience for everyone. Whether encountering a debut novelist, an established author, or a timeless classic, members become part of a community where every book has the opportunity to spark meaningful conversation.
