[close] As members of the Army Profession, each of us has an inherent responsibility to self-improve. Professional reading and writing are a key component that is often overlooked. It is easy to make excuses as to why we are missing this essential component of our development: not enough time, not knowing what to read, or just missing a bit of motivation. In this spirit, I have sifted through several published Army/Engineer lists aimed at the Self Development of NCOs in the ranks of Sergeant and Staff Sergeant. From there I looked for books that are less than 400 pages. My hope is that this may help motivate you to start your self-development journey. I would be to hear your thoughts on the books and how you see their lessons for leadership.

[close] The Nerdery Book Club selects one book per month, based on recommendations from the Book Club community. Members are encouraged to: 1) Join the Nerdery Book Club Slack channel 2) Obtain and read the book (library, purchase, etc.) 3) Contribute to the discussion on Slack while you are working your way through the book. 4) Join the monthly Lunchtime discussion (30 min) and add your thoughts, reactions, etc. to the conversation. 5) Recommend future book club titles to the group and the moderators. 6) Get the next book selected. 7) Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
