1174625 2. Lady and the Tramp

Lady and the Tramp is a 1955 American animated musical romance produced by Walt Disney, and tells the story of Lady the pampered Cocker Spaniel as she grows from puppy to adult, deals with changes in her family, and meets and falls in love with Tramp the homeless mutt. The film's opening sequence, in which a character unwraps a hat box on Christmas morning and finds Lady inside, is inspired by an incident when Walt Disney presented his wife Lily with a Chow puppy as a gift in a hat box to make up for having previously forgotten a dinner date with her. The scene of Lady and Tramp sharing a plate of spaghetti — climaxed by an accidental kiss as they swallow opposite ends of the same strand of spaghetti — is considered an iconic scene in American film history.

READ FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. Read a book with an opposites-attract romance
2. Read a book in which someone eats pasta (location and brief passage -- must state pasta, spaghetti, penne, etc , not simply Italian food)
3. Read a book with a scene that you will remember forever -- brief description.

Bridget Nylund

Bridget Nylund is a major one-off character in the 1985 NBC sitcom The Golden Girls. She is the daughter of Rose and the late Charlie Nylund, and the sister of Adam, Kirsten, Gunilla, and Charlie Nylund, Jr.

Bridget appears in the Season 2 episode "Family Affair". She is portrayed by Marilyn Jones.

Unlike her mother, Bridget is extremely witty, sensible, and well-read, studying in London. She has a sharp tongue, such as when she throws shade at Michael’s music career. She also is less prudish than Rose, sleeping with Michael after only knowing him for a day, though neither pursue anything romantic after it. Bridget desires to have an open relationship with Rose, wanting to tell her mother her secrets without judgment now that she’s not the perfect daughter Rose thought she’d be.

On her way to England, Bridget stopped by her mother's new home for a visit. She arrived just after Dorothy's son Michael, who had stopped by for a surprise visit, and the two began to bicker.. The next day, Bridget and Rose went out for breakfast. Blanche later gave her and Michael tickets to Henry Mancini's tribute to The Pink Panther, as Blanche was unable to attend due to her back injury. After the show, Bridget and Michael returned to the house and slept together.

Soon after, their mothers and their host caught them in bed together, causing a rift between their mothers. Dorothy referred to her as a tramp, causing Rose to become angry, telling Dorothy that she never wanted to speak to her again. Not wanting her own actions to ruin her mother's friendships, Bridget approached Rose to talk about what had happened. Rose initially avoided the topic, but Bridget insisted that they talk as she wanted to have an open relationship with her.

Bob Hope

This is the second time I’m making a button for Bob Hope. The first time was in the “I Love Lucy” Challenge.

Bob Hope ( born Leslie Townes Hope May 29, 1903 – died July 27, 2003) guest appeared as himself in Season 4 episode 17 of The Golden Girls titled "You Gotta Have Hope". An enormously popular comedian and actor whose active career spanned over six decades, from vaudeville, Broadway musicals and radio to television and movies, Hope's trademarks were his machine gun delivery of jokes, his theme song "Thanks for the Memory," and his distinctive profile.

Over a career spanning 60 years (1934 to 1994), Hope appeared in over 70 films and shorts, including a series of "Road" movies co-starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. In addition to hosting the Academy Awards fourteen times, he appeared in many stage productions and television roles, and was the author of fourteen books. He participated in the sports of golf and boxing, and owned a small stake in his hometown baseball team, the Cleveland Indians. He was married to his wife, fellow performer Dolores Hope (née DeFina), for 69 years.

You Gotta Have Hope is the seventeenth episode of the fourth season of The Golden Girls and the ninety-third episode overall. Directed by Terry Hughes and written by Barry Fanaro and Mort Nathan, it premiered on NBC-TV on February 25th, 1989.

A childhood fantasy leads Rose to believe that Bob Hope is her father, and she's convinced that he will perform as the Master of Ceremonies at an upcoming charity benefit. Meanwhile, Dorothy is in charge of a variety show that seems to fail miserably because of an obvious lack of qualified talent. Rose promises to get Bob Hope but of course she is unable to. As she steps onto the stage to let the audience know that Bob Hope will not be appearing, he shows up and starts to perform. It seems that Sophia has saved the day, her friend who she was trying to get to appear in the show used to do vaudeville with Bob Hope and they asked him to appear for the charity event.

Please complete ONE of the following tasks:

1. Read a book with a Fantasy MPG
2. Read a book that was published between the years 1934-1994 (first published or edition you read)
3. Read a book that has all the letters of “HOPE” in the title

Rebecca Devereaux

Rebecca Sue Devereaux is the daughter of Blanche Devereaux. She first appears in the Season 3 episode of the The Golden Girls titled "Blanche's Little Girl". The part of Rebecca is played by actress Shawn Schepps and later by actress Debra Engle.

Rebecca is a model who works all over the world and attended the University of France to pursue her career. Blanche hadn't seen her daughter in 4 years and upon seeing her, she is surprised to see her daughter had gained so much weight. She also got engaged to a man named Jeremy who did nothing but insult her. Blanche had a talk with Rebecca and encouraged her to call off the engagement but an angry Rebecca doesn't listen and leaves her mother's home. She soon realizes her mother was right and returns to tell Blanche she has dumped Jeremy.

In a later season, a slimmed down Rebecca tells her mother that she is getting artificially inseminated, which leads them to have another fight. Blanche doesn't approve of Rebecca having a baby out of wedlock and raising the baby without a father but Blanche later realizes that Rebecca's a grown woman who has the right to make any decision she wants with her own life.

When Rebecca is near her due date, she asks her mother to be there for the birth. When they visited an alternative birthing center, Blanche wasn't impressed and when Rebecca heard a pregnant mother's screams, she decides that the hospital is a better choice. Rebecca later gives birth to a daughter, whom she names Aurora Devereaux.

After Aurora was born, Blanche is a babysitter for Rebecca but when she takes Aurora with her during a theater audition, a man mistakes Blanche as the baby's mother and so Blanche has Aurora every time she has a date. 1174625 Wonderful! You have earned the Sophia Younger than Dorothy! button

Sophia was not supposed to be a regular

When the show was originally pitched, the character of Sophia was meant to be merely an occasional guest star—Dorothy's saucy mother stopping in for a visit. The producers underestimated the appeal of Estelle Getty, though. Sophia ended up being so popular (or, as they say in Hollywood, 'she tested strongly with preview audiences') that the producers quickly made her a regular character. I am glad that they made this change because I cannot imagine this show without seeing Sophia.

Sophia was supposed to live in the Shady Pines nursing home after suffering a stroke which was mentioned in the pilot episode. It is also mentioned that the stroke affected the part of her brain which controlled the things she said which is where all of her sarcastic remarks came from.

There was a 4th regular member of the regular cast who is only seen in the pilot episode. We will talk about HIM later.

Please complete ONE of the following tasks:

1. Read a book that has a Sarcastic character (Your interpretation and must give details)
2. Read a book that both of the Author’s initials can be found in the word “SHADY PINES”
3. Read a book that has a page count that ends in the number 4

Salvadore Petrillo

Salvadore "Sal" Petrillo is a major character in The Golden Girls. He is the late husband of Sophia Petrillo, and the father of Dorothy Zbornak, Gloria Harker, and Phil Petrillo.
Sal was seen only in flashback sequences or as apparitions. He was portrayed by the late Sid Melton, and by Kyle T. Heffner in "Clinton Avenue Memoirs".

Sal was a average man, but he could be sharp-tongued like Sophia and they did argue over things; other times he could be romantic. In a flashback, the couple's car is being repaired and Sophia's father complains about Sal; when Sophia's father goes to the restroom, Sal reveals that he has Sophia's favorite chocolates. In another, after Sal reveals Sophia's true age and they fight, Sal ends it by telling her that she is always beautiful to him.

Salvadore’s cause and age at death is unknown, but he may have died from an illness as Sophia mentioned he was in a hospital the night he died. The night he died, Sophia went looking for Dorothy and found her in the maternity ward looking at the babies. Sophia saw a newborn that looked exactly like Sal, and thought that the baby had been born just as Sal died. Much to her surprise, the baby's last name was Rheingold -- which was the name of Sal's favorite beer. According to Sophia, Sal's last words were, "Ten bucks says I don't need this oxygen tank."

When Sophia went on an eating binge and thought she was having a heart attack, she fell asleep and dreamed about seeing Sal in Heaven. She mentioned that Sal was definitely in Heaven, as he was surrounded by women.

In 1990, Sophia's memory began to worsen, so she decided to take a trip back to Brooklyn to jog her memory. She believed that Sal had carved "Sal Loves Sophia" in the kitchen closet, but it was revealed that Sal had put their children's height chart on the kitchen door. While up in her old bedroom, the despondent Sophia imagined Sal coming down from Heaven to talk to her. Sal was disappointed that Sophia had been losing her fire, and admitted that he may not have found her attractive anymore. This caused Sophia to snap at him, promising that she would make him regret looking at another ghost. Sal applauded Sophia for finding her spunk again, and made her promise to keep her spirit -- not for his memory, but for her own life. As Sophia and Dorothy prepared to leave, Sophia found the love message that Sal had carved in the closet.

Please complete ONE of the following tasks:

2. Read a book that has the word “Heaven” in the text (Please state page/location number and short passage)
