The most abundant shark in the western Atlantic, the Sandbar Shark is rarely seen at the surface, instead swimming at depths between 60-200 feet (18-61 m). They are opportunistic feeders and prey mostly on small fish, eels, skates, rays, dogfish, octopus, squid and crabs. They are listed as “Endangered” on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Red List. They are targeted in some fisheries and caught for its meat, oil, skin, and fins.

Known by many names, including the narrowtooth shark, the bronze shark, the copper shark, and the New Zealand whaler, Bronze Whaler Sharks are a requiem shark species along with Tiger Sharks and Blue Sharks. They can be found worldwide in patchy populations. It gets its name due to the bronze-grey to olive-green coloring.

The largest known extant fish species, this shark holds many records for size in the animal Kingdom. The largest recorded length was 61.7 feet long. These are filter-feeding carpet sharks that inhabit the open waters of all tropical oceans. Whale shark lifespans are estimated to be between 80 and 130 years, based on studies of their vertebral growth bands and the growth rates of free-swimming sharks.

4. Basking Shark

The second largest fish in the world, the basking shark is a filter-feeding shark, primary consuming plankton. This is considered a relatively social shark, with schools generally divided by sex. Sometimes, they can form schools of up to 100 individuals. Basking Sharks earned their name due to often being observed moving slowly along the surface of the water, but this behavior is due to their primary food source being zooplankton which is abundant at the surface.

14. Greenland Shark

Living in cold Artic waters, they are the longest living vertebrate animals on land or sea, possibly event up to 400 years old. Although they are one of the slowest swimming animals on record, Greenland Sharks are capable of ambushing prey such as seals. Individual Greenland Sharks have also been found to contain an entire reindeer, parts of a horse, and even a polar bear in their stomachs.

While some species are oviparous, meaning they lay eggs, the majority are viviparous. Baby sharks are called pups.

Named for the unusual and distinctive form of their heads, this shark has eyes that are placed on each end of its T-shaped head. The shape of their heads along the Hammerhead Shark to sweep for prey more effectively. They have disproportionately small mouths compared to other sharks, and they can be found close to the shorelines of most warm, tropical climates.

Similar to a ray or skate, this species once occurred in waters throughout the Mediterranean Sean and long the eastern Atlantic Ocean from Scandinavia to Mauritania. They are now rarely found in their natural habitat with one exception – The Canary Islands. They have a unique way of breathing compared to most other benthic fish. They do not pump water from the oropharyngeal cavity like other fish. Instead, they use gill flaps located under their body to pump out water during respiration. Doing so allows them to be more discreet and prevent detection.

When Blanche picks him up at the airport, he was nowhere to be found, only to be sent home by a policeman, saying he stowed away on a plane to the Bahamas while going to the bathroom. David refuses lunch and decides to eat at a restaurant instead.
At 2 AM, David wakes everyone up with loud music, and they find David in the living room with some new "friends" he made from a pizza joint. Dorothy throws David's "friends" out of the house, and tells David she's having a real problem with his attitude. When David decides to sneak out of the house to have his own life, Dorothy catches him and talks to him. Dorothy asks David if he's just going to "wimp out." He denies "wimping out" and says he doesn't have to stay at his grandmother's house, especially with the crappy chores - he even says that vacuuming is for girls. Dorothy replies that life is full of crappy stuff to do. She then tells him that his grandmother loves him. David tells her life stinks, and Dorothy said that he had a choice, either to tough it out or let it beat him, but right now, he's at his grandmother's house and things don't have to stink. If he stays and works at it, and everything turns out okay, he'll have a place to go to when things at home really get to stink. David comes to trust Dorothy, and he walks back into the house while she fixes him something to eat.
The next evening, Blanche proposes a toast to Dorothy who got an A on her test. Dorothy then continues with another toast to David, saying that in the past week, he has proven that he is really a good kid. David then decides to stay for good, and Blanche calls Janet saying that she wants to keep him and raise him herself. Janet refuses and wants to take him home, and Blanche tells Janet that: "If she and her husband don't straighten up, she'll kick her uppity butt 'till Hell won't have it again!" After hanging up the phone, Blanche says she meant every word she said. David goes to Hawaii to join his parents to make a new start in their relationship.
