Susanna wrote: "Where can I find the original list?"This list was inspired by the NPR Top-100 for The Sword and Laser book club.
No, I kind of thought the best way to do it was let everyone choose their own personal 100 favorites and then whatever has made it into the Top-100 on the list will be the Top-100. But now that you mention it, it could end up the Top-∞. To be honest I hadn't really taken it into consideration.
Boots this is working great...I had about 70 books I voted for but I now can fill out nmy list based on the bigger list everyone is adig to...genius..
I can't believe that 'Moon' and 'Starship Troopers' are ahead of 'Stranger'. On my personal list, Troopers would be somewhere around wrapped in concrete and sent into orbit. Glad to see 'Golden Compass' getting some love. After I finished my backreading for S&L 'Subtle Knife' was the first thing I grabbed.
I, personally, think that The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is a better novel than Stranger in a Strange Land (haven't read Starship Troopers); but it's fun when tastes vary.
Very good idea Boots. The list is a very efficient way to add to my to-read shelf. The NPR list has Cryptonomicon at #53. I think it's an outstanding book, but I question it's place among Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Neal Stephenson is hard to label, but I consider this book speculative fiction and historical fiction.
It's a hard boundary sometimes to figure out, the one between science fiction and speculative fiction.I often think the ones critics respect get the latter title! Like The Handmaid's Tale.
In normal SF-toplists on GR, I have read the majority of books, at least in the top 30. In this one, I've read a single book and the one I'm currently reading is in it as well. Something tells me it's a bit heavy on the fantasy side or, alternatively, differs greatly from all other toplists. (It lacks everything by verne, has not even the classics like "We", 1984 and so on in it and so on)
I count forty-eight sci-fi books in the top one-hundred. Jules Verne and many other classics are on the list, just not in the top one-hundred.
I noticed that last night. It looks like they did it with a whole pile of different polls. The book has more poll votes than reviews.

379 people voted for it out of nowhere.
The books only has 288 ratings and 33 reviews.
The "S&L Top-100 Science Fiction, Fantasy Titles" isn't the only list on which it suddenly appeared: http://www.goodreads.com/list/book/15...
Most of those look to be "opinion" lists, so I think I'll have to leave it unless requested by the list starters.
Cryonic: A Zombie Novel is showing up everywhere. I just sent a complaint and asked for it to be removed from The Definitive Horror List.I hope some one in charge contacts this author and puts a stop to his antics.
These list may be opinion based, but they are created for reference, not for authors to push their books by creating multiple accounts and voting various times on their work.
I encourage everyone who voted on this list to rate Cryonic: A Zombie Novel 1 STAR to teach this guy a lesson. We have already begun giving him 1 star ratings at our horror list. His book rating has dropped from 4.25 points to 3.98 in a matter of a couple days. LETS KEEP IT UP!
The Deity I Did Not WantA short but powerful read — only 20 minutes, yet it completely changes how you see the world. One of the most original and beautiful stories I’ve read. Highly recommended.

Anyone can add books to this list.

I intend to add books as I read them and adjust my order of favorites accordingly, I hope everyone who votes does the same. Hopefully in the end we'll have a fairly good idea of what Sword and Laser's Top-100 looks like.
