These books have untold amounts of pure, gag-inducing, abominated gore. Add books to this list that have disgusted or twisted you in some way.

Compared to some of the other selections American Psycho is not that gory. I don't have any idea how Harry Potter got on here!

Harry Potter being up there made me laugh, which is unfortunate, because I accidentally spit out my gum and it landed on the floor.

Snuff? Seriously? Unless you find sex to be gorey then I have no clue why that is on there. There is ONE slightly gorey scene but hardly goriest

Wow what a list of scary books Im so excited!!!! I hope the books are still available to buy! thanks to whoever started this list. a
nother gory book i would like to add to the list would be funland by Richard laymon I really enjoyed it!
read a book called "killer fiction" by GJ Schaefer and try to beat it. you cant.
i am currently reading catching fire.other than a scene wear a guy is wiped it is not gory, but i am half way finished.
I am very excited to read many of these books. Thankyou for making this list. I agree that Snuff is gory. So sick as a matter ofinshf fact that I couldn't finish it. I am writing this with my phone abd having issues. please forgive misspellibgs and poor grammer. American psycho was the sivkeat book ever, no doubt, but unlike Snuff the story kept me going until the end. I suppose I prefer the "perverse" genre. Books are the only means of exploring those concepts safely in my opinion. Would you care to create a "sick/perverse" list for me? That would be great. Pyre suggestions would be welcom as well. I have read all Palahniuk and Bret Easton Ellis. Has anyone ever heard of Carlton Mellick III? I can never find him in any book stores. i have an ereader now but am poor so often use only library ot pub domain or "shared" . Thabks again for the list!
How is snuff gory? I can't possibly understand why everyone is flipping out about how gory it was.Just because you DISLIKE a book and it has dirty parts does not make it gory. The book is dirty(both sexual and just literally dirty) yes but gore?
Gore is defined as "Blood that has been shed, esp. as a result of violence." not just anything that's graphic or dirty.
A graphic book? Yes but again most of the books on this list assume that gore is the definition of anything graphic but it's not. Rename this as being a list of graphic books and I would agree snuff deserves to be close to the top but for the 100th time graphic does not mean gory. Gore is specifically relating to large amounts of blood/violence
Yes indeed. I used the word wrong. I'll just say sick and perverse and violent instead. And a terrible book unfortunately. Chuck is one of my faves but Snuff was an epic failure.
Someone needs to audit this list. Many of the books aren't gory at all. Some of the selections are downright retarded.
Extremely strange list with a lot of books that aren't very gory at all.

Like most of his books though just not for everyone
I recently read Perfume by Patrick Suskind, which I thought was a little gory (didn't add that here though). But then I read The Omitted Place by Noelle Blanche, and that is incredibly gory and very graphic too! Thoroughly enjoyed them both! :)
Harry Potter and the Hunger Games should not be so high up this list. Personally, I wouldn't put them on here at all but if they are, or must be, on here then they should at least be at the bottom of the list. How they can be above some of the other books on here is beyond me!
I don't know who made this list, but the inclusion of Harry Potter pretty much makes it an irrelevant crock of shit.
I'm giggling at some of the true crime books on here while telling my computer screen OFC they have gore in them.In Cold Blood was *LITERALLY* about murders that happened. You can't write a GOOD and COMPREHENSIVE book about a murder that shook the nation for the time period it happened in without including the quite literal gory details about it
Snuff has the ONE scene at the end that can *KIND* of be called gore but not really because it's not. Haunted would be the better book if you want gore from what I remember (and yes I did notice that it is on the list). Authors in a house for a "writing retreat" who panic and start resorting to cannibalism and paranoia. Battle Royale has some pretty gory scenes so I'll allow that. But THG? HP? 1984? Seriously? 1984? What's next? Flowers for Algernon and Of Mice and Men? I feel like 1984 being on this list that we read 2 different books. I could make an argument for it being a horror book yes. But not gore. It's on par with FfA/OM&M/Snuff IMO. And John Dies at the End? Dude takes drugs, sees things, shit goes to hell, I fell asleep so many times through that book. Had there been gore it might have actually caught my attention.
American Psycho I could make a better argument for it to be on a list of being a gory book than for it not to be on a list of gory books.
Shakespeare isn't gore. That I had to massively laugh at. I've read modern day romance novels that are more gory than Shakespeare that I *STILL* wouldn't put on this list (ok fine *technically* paranormal side of the romance genre for some of them and mystery side for others and not cozy mystery but like murder mystery types where authors forgot they were writing a mystery and wrote a romance with a mystery thrown in though I do read those from time to time too.......just clarifying I wasn't referring to them at this point.).
Megan wrote: "Snuff? Seriously? Unless you find sex to be gorey then I have no clue why that is on there. THAT itself is gory as hell, even if the details weren't.

"Large amounts of violence" does one woman being fucked continuously by an obscene amount of men to the point of death not constitute as a large amount of violence?
