For readers who love romance without sex scenes, pervasive profanity, and free of religious proselytizing.
As the books by Sophie Kinsella are NOT clean reads, they are being removed!
Please PM me if you know of any others here that are not clean, or are Inspirational/Christian so I may have them removed, since I wish for this list to be a useful source for "Clean" and "Non-Religious" reads. Thank you! :D
Absolutely do NOT add any book'lets' of less than 150 pages, as they will be reported as SPAM and deleted! Novella Collections and Anthologies are fine, but I will not allow single short stories to be passed off as "books"!

Georgette Heyer's English Regency novels are coming back in print. Like Jane Austen, there is much social comedy as well. Heyer was a great researcher and has lots of detail in her descriptions. Did not spot any of hers on this list but think readers would enjoy them.
I personally haven't added any books by Georgette Heyer because after trying to read 7 different titles by her,I gave up. Her writing just does not appeal to me in any way,and I am totally unable to get engaged by her books.I just find them excruciatingly boring. However, others are free to add them. :]
Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre are the only books that belong on this list. Free of explicit content, yet still compelling. What is the rest of this anyway?
Sarah wrote: "Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre are the only books that belong on this list. Free of explicit content, yet still compelling. What is the rest of this anyway?"Must strongly disagree....there are many, many other clean romances besides just the two you mentioned!

I noticed that Trinity Falls by Regina Hart is on this list. I was surprised because, as I recall, there was quite a bit of sexual content in it. The cover might lead you to believe otherwise though. I went back and checked my review just to confirm.
Madeleine Brent wrote some great sweet, historical romance/adventures in the 1970s. They follow the "secret identity" trope, and take place partly in England and partly in an exotic locale (Afghanistan, Tibet, Australia, China, Italy...). Those would make great additions to this list, as would Victoria Holt's books.
Jo Goodman's The Last Renegade was very good and clean. American historical romance. Not sure I would include Hunger Games as romance.

The friends-to-lovers plot is a familiar trajectory, in fiction and in life. It’s a path to good times! And bad times. And, as many can attest,...
Anyone can add books to this list.
