Well damn, now why didn't that come up when I searched 'bad cover'! Booo. Oh well, heres to another! :D Let's start on a new page!
Aww, no love for Kate's books? I actually have no problem with those covers. And I think the only bad thing about Rose's book is the floating Fabio head. I like her model though.
I like Kate's books now that I am into them, but I admit that I passed MAGIC BITES by on the shelf more than a few times before I was finally bored enough to give it a whirl.Another one I have been passing by for ages (until just recently) was MOON CALLED. There is something about the angle of her head and the thickness of her neck that reads so anatomically wrong to me that the cover made me cringe.
Hmm, I have to say Kate's covers never bothered me. And looking through my books I'm finding it hard to find any that I don't like. I don't know if that's because I'm easy to please when it comes to the covers, or bad cover art has affected my reading decisions! Hmm, interesting thought ...
Kate's covers just don't do the story justice...a bit to pieced together in photoshop looking for my taste! (although they are way better than the UK versions you showed us Shannon!)MOON CALLED by Patricia Briggs is great! And her cover art is all by the same arist and are beautiful to me! The Mercy series and Kate series are my favorites!
I love the cover art for Moon Called, and all of Mercy's books. Aww, and I like the kitty on Summon the Keeper. You know what though? I was finding a lot of books that I thought had bad covers that I DIDN'T like. Lol, I think another poll needs to be made.
We need polls for everything!!The cover art for Moon Called is actually one of my favorites ever. I like the model, the moon, the weres on the gate behind here. I loved it!
I don't mind that they don't stay consistent, and honestly, I like the other covers a lot better. But... possibly I am a snob, because I am blessed enough to be surrounded by art and incredible artists as part of my job... its anatomically wrong. The angle of her head looks like her neck is broken, to me, and her neck looks wider than her jaw. Sorry! And again, it's not the case on any of her other covers. But that one... ugh.But the book is GREAT!
The kitty on Summon the Keeper is cute. But the whole feel of the cover, I felt like I was borrowing one of my mom's books from the 1970s.
Yeah I never got why her tattoos were so inconsistent. Or even there for that matter. In the book the only one she ever mentions is the coyote paw.The angel of her head looks ok to me, but I see what you are talking about Katyana in terms of her neck/jaw ratio! LOL! It's huge in comparison! Just never noticed!
Haven't read all those books yet. But from what I hear from all of you, they're great. And you are right, I probably wouldn't have even touched those books just looking at those covers.
Oh, I will definitely marathon them soon. I bought them last week and I am waiting for school to be over.
Marathon'ing them is a great idea!! :D They don't have big cliff hangers or anything but they are good enough that you want to read them one after the other!
Laurie-Highland Hussy wrote: "Ilona Andrews' On the Edge has the same guy, same picture as Joy Nash's
too funny!"Holy cow that's hilarious!! :D
I love the Mercy covers. And I read somewhere that her tattoos change because each one holds clues to what that book will be about. Wolves, fae, vamps, etc. I've read them all from the library & didn't hear this until after I read the latest, so I didn't get to check it out. :(
I like the Mercy covers too :)I didn't know that about her tattoos either..cool.I absolutely LOVE Kresley Cole, but the cover for
is just awful! I love this book as one of my favorites, but the guy looks so stupid...I just want to cut his weird hair!
I love the covers of the Patricia Briggs' series Mercedes Thompson. I do not understand why any of them would be on here; Dan Dos Santos is a kick ass artist.
What the heck is the basis for some of these "awful" covers? Some of them are, yeah, but a lot of them aren't that bad or aren't bad at all. Sevenwaters, Archangel, Mooncalled, Inkheart, City of Bones, Hawksong, and Warbreaker, among others, have great or alright covers. Dan Dos Santos and John Jude Palencar are amazing artists, and to see their covers categorized as "awful" is REALLY sad.

Lord, why did they have to put a Fabio look alike on the cover of On the Edge ??
