Goodreads asked Mark Bradford:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Mark Bradford Interacting with readers. Having a reader mention something that you did not state explicitly. It's one thing to describe an object as a "blue sphere" and have the reader say "there was a blue sphere in the book" but it's another thing for them to say "You know, I just felt that he was hiding something... just a hunch."

That kind of nuance that can be picked up by a reader is just exciting—especially when an author puts so much effort into embedding it subtly. It's the best experience I can ask for.

The Sword and the Sunflower trilogy is filled with that.
