Goodreads asked Diane Wing:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Diane Wing When I get stuck on a manuscript, I read through from the beginning and see if there is a plot point or characterization that needs to change to move the story forward later in the story. If that is not the issue, then I get something to eat or drink or take a walk with my dog in the neighborhood or in the park. The movement and change in environment spark new ideas and allows me to take the story in new directions. If the manuscript is non-fiction, a switch to writing a different chapter helps keep up momentum in the book's progress.
