Being a writer calls upon a set of skills (if you can call being good at making things up a skill...) that aren't compatible with many other jobs. So to me, one of the very best things about being a writer is being able to make a living from doing the only thing at which I actually feel competent!
I also love being able to work from home, around the demands of my family, being able to eat the leftover lasagne for lunch in my pyjamas, and the massive amount of support and friendship that exists in the writing community. (And I do really, really love making things up.)

Iona, I am reading Letters To The Lost. You are putting my emotions on an emotional rollercoaster. I love this book so much but I seem to have come across an confusion involving Daisy. The Chapter 33 has the year 1943 but also Daisy. Just wondering if this was just a slight mistake as my group, I am doing chapter discussions. Leaving out spoilers as some members have not read it. Is it simply a typo?
