Goodreads asked C. Edward Baldwin:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

C. Edward Baldwin WRITE! WRITE! and then, WRITE!. Ignore all the naysayers, including yourself (who is often the biggest naysayer). And also, READ! READ! and then, READ! Read novels. Read how to books on novel writing which can help you learn how to read novels as a writer. I generally read three to five books at a time. I like to see how other writers handle different situations. Long ago, I bought and studied books on plotting, scene & structure, character and viewpoint, etc., and eventually I began reading novels with a writer's eye.
