“The rules were simple: No rules.
Fly your kite. Cut the opponent's. Good luck.”
Khalid Hosseini, The Kite Runner

Jalal ad-Din Muhammad ar-Rumi
“Osho was very generous with his genius. When I went to Poona in 1988, he answered a question of mine. “Rumi says, ‘I want burning, burning.’ What does this burning have to do with my own possible enlightenment?” “You have asked a very dangerous question, Coleman. Burning has nothing to do with your enlightenment. This work you have done with Rumi is beautiful. It has to be, because it is coming out of Rumi’s love. But for you these poems can become ecstatic self-hypnosis.” He pretty much nailed me to the floor with that one. Sufism is good, but end up with Zen. It was a fine hit he gave me. I am still drawn to the Sufi longing and love-madness, but clarity is coming up strong on the inside. I have not assimilated his wisdom yet, but I mean to. I am very grateful to him. But it is not wisdom for everyone. Osho crafted his words to suit the individual. Ecstatic self-hypnosis might be just the thing for someone else. He was showing me a daylight beyond any beloved darkness, an ecstatic sobriety beyond any drunkenness.”
Rumi, Rumi: The Big Red Book: The Great Masterpiece Celebrating Mystical Love and Friendship

Eckhart Tolle
“Do not confuse surrender with an attitude of "I can't be bothered anymore" or "I just don't care anymore." If you look at it closely, you will find that such an attitude is tainted with negativity in the form of hidden resentment and so is not surrender at all but masked resistance. As you surrender, direct your attention inward to check if there is any trace of resistance left inside you. Be very alert when you do so; otherwise, a pocket of resistance may continue to hide in some dark corner in the form of a thought or an unacknowledged emotion.”
Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Matt Damon
“You don't know about real loss, 'cause it only occurs when you've loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you've ever dared to love anybody that much.”
Matt Damon, Good Will Hunting

Jalal ad-Din Muhammad ar-Rumi
“A poet I am not!
My verses aren’t worth
a piece of bread.
I don’t seek praise,
I don’t run from blame—
both are worthless to me.

All my skill and poetry
fit into a single cup—
Unless the wine comes from the Beloved’s hand
I will not drink one sip of it!”
Rumi, Rumi: In the Arms of the Beloved
