Status Updates From Le Jardin des plantes

Всі люди як люди, а я, зрозумівши, що до кінця книжки лишились якісь 150 сторінок, вирішив напружитись і дочитати її. Поступово цілком реально втягнутися у ритм (і навіть трошки поспівпереживати автору-герою), але до розуміння, чому він вирішив писати цей текст саме т а к и м це, на жаль, не наближає

Трохи розчарований цією книжкою: вона фрагментарна, в ній багато спогадів, описів і трохи потоку свідомості. Нагадує Зебальда, але в його творах є якась "серцевина", а тут – просто довільний і беземоційний перелік епізодів життя автора. Думаю, що поставлю цю книжку на паузу

Читаю в українському перекладі, у виданні 2002 року. Враження поки суперечливі, але налаштований прочитати ✊️

'A. R.-G.: [...] we really must believe that S. attributes to referents a greater importance than do other novelists at this meeting.' it is clear who one of the novelists - this 'A. R.-G.' - must be; who is 'J. R.'?

this makes an interesting comparison to the work of another writer who has also written that he 'has no imagination' (note to self: backtrack to find quote(s; also check the other book) & uses memory ('memory'?) instead. Roubaud's project (Project?) feels like a more polished, rigorous version of what's in this book; the Jardin feels raw, unprocessed - but no less charming/'compulsively readable'

whatever i was expecting when i picked this up & maybe not having counted on prior experience w/ other examples of the so-called nouveau roman being instructive (w/r/t what to expect), am pleasantly surprised to find & pleased to report that this has thus far been a sexy, sexy read.
