I leaned back in my chair, trying to appear as casual as I could. I wasn’t an enforcer. No, that job was quite seriously better suited for my brother. I stood and walked to my mate, quickly wrapping my arms around him from behind. I kissed the back of his head and simply held him for a moment.
“I should have come back sooner.” Ambrosius started to argue. “No, we’ve been over it.

“You may. What’s on your mind?”
“Well, if you have a dragon for a beloved, and he can take out three enforcers as if they aren’t even there, why am I still here?”
I chuckled. “He’s not exactly here right now, is he? And Emmerich has his own job to do. He’s a financial advisor and handles the investment portfolios of his entire thunder as well as others that are close to them.”

“Where?” I asked, advancing on my brother. He knew how much I wanted my mate, and I could scent him everywhere, telling me he was close by.
“It won’t be quite that simple, Emmerich. We believe that your mate is Ambrosius,” Master Edison told me.
“Ambrosius. Why does that name sound familiar?”

I held out my hands, worried he’d do just that. Luckily he seemed to be willing to hear me out. I glanced over my shoulder at the door, wondering if they could hear me or not. It didn’t matter because Edison was going to tell Wallace anyway, and as my bodyguard, Atticus would know soon enough.
