Not gonna lie, Minaga is the my favorite character in the series, and I hate that our protagonists' time in his dungeon has come to an end.

I've been powering through the Primal Hunter books (which are actually pretty big, averaging ~600+ pages) so I'm taking a little break, in retrospect reading another series with an edge-lord-ish protagonist may not have been the best choice, but oh well...

Interesting, the author just used the phrase "led behind the light" which is an idiom I honestly can say I had never run into before but which is apparently from Norwegian and means to deceive.

I was all ready to be annoyed with this book as it pulls the old "hero is sent off to the other end of the world by nefarious magic while sinister forces do as they like back home" trope but honestly, Jake's adventures with Sandy the Sand Worm are some of the most fun the series has had since Hawkie showed up.

While I enjoyed the first of the Monster Hunter Files anthologies, despite the lack of big names on the billing, I feel like this is a much more consistent (and amusing) selection of stories

While I appreciate that Goodreads saw that a DNF shelf should be standard, I'm a bit miffed that they replaced my "Abandoned" shelf as it fit my view of such better. I don't "not finish" a book, I toss it away in disgust or boredom or outrage and abandon it in the outer dark where it belongs. If I'm wishy-washy, I leave it on my reading shelf (like Deepness in the Sky, celebrating 9 yrs "currently reading" on Mar 30)
