I don't wabt this series to end...it's just too good.

Honestly ... getting the grumpy × sunshine trope right is difficult - at least without making the sunshine the most irritating character you've ever met.

But so far, I really like the FMC. She's flawed yet so _good_. I'm liking where this is going.

This is the kind of book I've been looking for.

Not as good of a start to the sequel as the first book.

Still reading.

I am currently devouring this book.

Outlook: Honestly, it could be the first book on the 2025 faves shelf

Why is the FMC just going along with everything.... this is so weird.

What is with all these places? Keeping the names straight for all these regions is giving me a headache. Not to mention the lore associated with each one? Just no. Some of it just doesn't even make any sense.

It's like the author is trying to make a conplex world, but is just typing random words and giving random histories to each one - and not even doing so in a way to keep readers engaged or interested.

I'm 2% through it....and who are all these people?? The name-dropping is happening at a dizzying rate with little to no explanation on who is who.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

My predictions thus far:

- whats-his-face is working with the Node people and wants revenge on his father and his wife
- Freya has the Blood of two gods
- whats-his-face heard the prophecy and had more of an understanding of it. Hence his unwillingness to be a part of it
- The oath that freya made has a loophole - it didnt account for the blood that runs through the son's veins
- son = king

Literally just reading this to see if it gets better.

Outlook: Not good.

I am intrigued. Like I'm not fighting to get back to this book just yet..but whenever I pick it up to continue where I left off, I am instantly hooked.

Outlook: Largely positive.

Honestly, Kaan's love is hauntingly beautiful.

It's still so damn long. But I want to see how one particular element plays out. Also.. shockingly.. the writing has illicited a lump in my throat. Especially when the MC takes the FMC down below to the cave. Yup, it hit me in the feels.

Can I just say that I completely understand what everyone is saying about the writing of this book. Like sometimes... just calling a candle a candle is the better option... rather than calling it a glowing but small flame that ignites with a potent power and keeps the darkness at bay.

(FYI - that metaphor was not included in the book... just me using my limited writing capability to make a point).

So far, it's on the slow side. But I'm still intrigued by some of the little plot nuggets that have been teased.

Hoping it picks up soon!
