Very dubious consent. I want to like this story but Reed is very bad at observing boundaries or even just nurturing healthy, non-toxic behavior. In the real world this relationship would probably devolve into violence.

So far, this could be a summer plot on The Young and The Restless. Hoping the actual story is better than this

46% in and I’m wondering how much longer is this author going to try to convince me that one of the Dimitri is completely unlikable.

Pronouns are ok to use. I don’t need to be reminded of the person’s name every other sentence and at the beginning of every paragraph. The prose, the dialogue and the narrative are very annoying so far. I don’t think I’ll be suffering through this much longer...

I just don’t have the patience right now and I also see some elements I find decidedly silly and basically intolerable. DNF

I use want to go on record as saying, I absolutely hate books written in the present tense. I find myself working quite hard to mentally change it as I read or else I feel like I’m reading n entire book of newspaper headlines, like “Man Bites Dog,” or “Woman Claims Alien Is The Father Of Her Baby.” It’s super annoying.

If you can get through the torture porn in the first 5%, this story begins to unfold in a careful and lovely way that so far doesn’t ignore the effects of Dante’s trauma.

Only at the beginning of chapter three and can’t help but be irritated by the distracting number of mistakes. A good editor could only have enhanced this story as it is thus far.

Wonders briefly how a boy purposefully isolated has access to movies and Taylor Swift on his iPad but is still so seemingly naive. Also wonders how this remote island off the coast of Sri Lanka has so far produced a seemingly entire white cast. Meh, I’ll go with it... for now, because the general storyline is interesting. However these little things irk me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m sorry to say that thus far, this is at best, insipid. I’m going to finish it but I’m frustrated by the story. We’re 50% through the book and so far the two MCs have had two interactions, both very brief. There’s been more action between one of the MCs and another love interest than with his supposed mate. Mostly I find the reason for their separation and the separation itself to be juvenile.

The connection between the 2 MCs just isn’t there for me. This sex scene is just corny and I’m sorry to say boring. It’s like the literary version of pizza delivery man porn. I can’t wait for it to be over :^(

This feels like one long ass episode of Supernatural. So NOT what I was looking for *le sigh*

It’s important to know the difference between effect versus affect.

Liking the premise and direction of the story so far but there are some inconsistencies in the writing. There is at least one timeline mismatch and just now the writing went inexplicably from 3rd person to 1st. I think some better editing is needed here.

Ok this is annoying. Ovum is singular. Its plural form is ova. I’m quite irritated that ovum is being used as plural. It’s distracting. 😒
