At this point, I'm just wanting to see how bad the trainwreck actually is. Such a pity.

This is...chaotic. Not in a fun way either. I feel a bit like I've lost brain cells reading this. When I'm not frustrated at it, I'm bored out of my mind. I've had to skip passages because its info dump followed by nonsense. There is no grounding baseline for this.

First thoughts: it's interesting! Gothic, feminist, some religious trauma, and an interesting main Character. I'm hoping to love this. Also, my husband snagged this for me. 💜

Ok the synopsis says something along the lines of 'dumb MMC' somewhere in there, so i'm hoping he is actually a bit stupid. Like a golden retriever. He's just so sweet but gosh is he missing a few brain cells. I get the feeling i'm reading a little too much into it though. Here's to wishing!

Wow, these two are cute. I think Sophie is a total badass. I think I want to be her when I grow up. Max is just straight up fun and I personally think he has a crush on her, but i don't blame him. I think i might be in love with her already as well. There is no resisting Sophie's charm.

Because the last Cara Bastone book was phenomenal, so I've thought. 'Why not?' I'll take the chance.

I accidentally bought this when trying to download a sample. Already this just proves why I sample before I buy, because I've just made it to chapter 3, and I already have 22 notes. I'm foreseeing a DNF in my future at the rate of dumb that this book is putting out. Anyone with a basic understanding of crime/murder would know how poorly written this is. I already hate Oakly for her TSTL somehow=her being smart.

In the introduction, which was cool, I liked that Mr. Gwaynne said he wanted to create a book, in which if you saw it on a shelf it would look interesting enough to read. He did his job. It took a 2 hour drive to find book 1, but after eyeballing books 2 and 3 for so long, I finally found it and bit that bullet. It sounds very interesting and I'm glad to have finally snagged a copy. I hope I fall in love with it.

A Texas Animator moves to Ireland to find her next door neighbor is a Mortician. So far, its quirky, charming, and fun. So as long as the sample didn't do me dirty, I think I'm going to have a good time with this one. Also, Callum has a stutter. How cute is that?

I'm so enthralled. I have so many questions and no answers. The characters are so compelling, the mystery is gripping me. I'm in love with this book.

I'm almost 100 pages in, and I can say that I'm intrigued. Its a fantastical mystery and I'm loving The Witch. There is a ton of world building going into this, and things are mysteriously magical in a dark and eerie way. I cannot wait until somethings start getting answered.

The writing is a bit on the dry side. I don't dislike it, but when you're used to fluffy, romantic, or even lyrical type writing, it can be hard to get back into the dry stuff. I think if I give this a fair shake, I'll end up loving it. At least I hope I do.

Its rare that i get to this point in a book and just want to fling it. I honestly hate Sara right now. She's awful. This man is hurting, and she just keeps stringing him along with 'I just need time. I'm a mess'. Yeah, I believe you, because rational, empathetic people don't string along men that say they love you and just want to spend time with you. he's not asking for anything other than to call you, his. UGH!

Why am I this far and they aren't even together yet, but we are essentially going through a 3rd act breakup? And not one that even makes any kind of sense. The amount of swoon that was in H's confession, should have leveled the playing field. Instead, he's now dejected while h is trying to pull her head out of her butt and 'deciding' on whether or not to choose him. This isn't romantic, it's frustrating.

Kind of bored. It's the same dialogue on repeat, stalling for the sake of dragging the story out, obvious information that's being overlooked, and defiance for the sake of defiance. The chemistry feels dull, nothing has been earned, the world building is minimal and at times vague and confusing. Not sure I'm getting through this, but for now I'm going to keep trying.

I read the sample and decided this was pretty interesting. I've read a couple of series by Emma Hamm, and I'm still very undecided on this author. This book kind of sounds like zombie apocalypse, meets dead gods, meets a resurrected princess out for revenge. It's an interesting idea, and so I'm just intrigued enough to take a risk on it. Fingers crossed lovelies.

This is a beautiful story. Wonderful writing and characters. The issue I'm having is with myself. This is a fantasy world with fantasy rules. However, I'm like, why is a seamstress allowed to be so involved with the royal family? I feel like she would have been put in her place, rather than a prince falling in love with her and allowing her to insert herself into politics and places she shouldn't be.

Reading on Audio and yep, it's fantastic.

Listening via Audible. Male narrator is doing a wonderful job. Very good job acting out the dialogue despite the material being meh. Female narrator is getting on my last nerve. She's trying to be dramatic in the worst way. Dragging out and emphasizing words constantly. Gah. Who approved her segments? Bleh.

Well, I'm not sleeping tonight. Well done Riley. I'm absolutely terrified of snakes and you've managed to give me nightmare fuel. I told my husband I'm going to be paranoid of snakes for the next few months, thanks to this book.

So glad I have the special edition of this book on its way. This book is so atmospheric and it's giving me all the chills and thrills. I love a haunted house story. This one is in the same vein as the TV show Haunting of Hill House which, simultaneously terrified me, while also making me love every second of it. I'm enamored with the writing. *Chef's kiss*

Its trying to be mysterious, but obviously we know who both of them are. lol. Otherwise its an interesting Romantasy. Sera seems like a strong and capable woman.

A whole lot of fluff without much substance here, and so i'm struggling to get through this. 600 pages, this did not need to be.

Well, I didn't expect to cry, much less, crying multiple times. I wasnt prepared for it in the slightest. This book is sugar sweet but wow does it pack in those emotional gut punches.

I had a moment of being worried I wouldn't pick this back up, even though I love this story. I hit a reading slog, and put it on pause. I'm listening to it on Audible and that can be challenging when I'm multitasking as I feel I miss out on crucial things. Still, the characters are so good, they feel like friends you want to keep visiting with, so I couldn't leave it alone for too long.
