It's at times confusing when you're dealing with abstract concepts melding with physical manifestations, and there doesn't feel like there is much rhyme or reason. It's fantastical and beautiful and a bit mind boggling.

Already it's making me want to cry. The story is starting out bittersweet. The dust jacket is cute, the hard cover is gorgeous. Supposed to be Ghibli-inspired, and while that grabbed me, the idea of feeling adrift as a story is what got me to buy it. I get the feeling I need my own ticket on the elsewhere express.

When you buy a book not realizing it's over 700 pages...
It's interesting, but the pacing is very slow. While important for the relationship and plot development, i wish we hadn't sacrificed the pacing, which is making this feel a lot longer than desirable.

I was promised 'Howl's Moving Castle' Vibes, and gosh darn it, I'm a sucker for both the book and movie; so, this is a no brainer for me. This is by the same Author who wrote the Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries trilogy so, I know she's a fantastic writer. Side note: wondering if this has a special edition hardcover? Cause you know...aesthetics. :D

I'm having the time of my life with this book. I love that while this has a war, it's not overshadowing the book like most of the Romantasies you see on the market. The war is impacting these people, and you can see it in how they live their lives and the things they chase after, but it's not the sole focus of this book. Trading secrets and information is so much fun. I wish more books were like this one.

A smart and resourceful FMC, A cunning MMC. Gothic tones woven throughout. I'm positively giddy. Why is this not more talked about? A debut that is blowing me away with its attention to detail and characters that feel real. I can't wait to see what hijinx these two are bound to wind up in.

Having a hard time seeing Annika who has her entire life micromanaged and controlled against her will, so easily agreeing to be in a relationship where she's being controlled. It makes more sense if it's due to familiarity, but we're just chalking it up to, he's hot and silent, so he gets what he wants. I'm still not sold on this story line. Maybe if it weren't so heavily bdsm based...

My fav book in this series. Theres a scene towards the end where Milene covers Salvatore with her body while he's bound to a chair; bullets are whizzing by. He's crying and begging her to save herself and telling her 'I can't lose you. I can't. I can't." and she's shushing him and telling him it'll be ok and she loves him. That scene is so freaking powerful, and lives rent free in my head. And so... reread time.

I remember loving both King and Savannah, their first time meeting is forever seared into my brain. So I'm hoping I'll still have a strong opinion about this a second time, 2 years after originally reading it.

I'm sad that i didn't know this had released back in February. I love this series so much. Don't know how I'll feel about the Aspect of Apathy, but hey, whatever Ruby wants to write, I'm jumping on that train. Bring it on!

Well this is like catnip already. 😻 A magic book, fall into another world. Villains and heros, twin sisters and twin books? Hell yes.

To say i'm angry with Hannah the FMC right now is an understatement. Ch. 25 just shows that Hannah has no idea what Love actually is. Its moments like these that make a romance fall apart. When an FMC is too busy going 'poor is me' and ditches the people that actually matter, to go wallow in their own self-importance. It doesn't matter how mad she is, she shouldn't let a man go to his death because she feels 'sad'.

When fainting is used as a plot device because we can't figure out how to navigate the passage of time any other way. This girl...I swear. My husband I joke about when characters do a lot of fainting, we call them Giles (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). This girl is going to be getting that title at this rate. Up to chapter six and I've lost count how many times she's already 'faded to black'. Mmmhmm...

Must be the season for "fell into another world" type books. No complaints here as these types are my bread and butter! I'm so excited! I accidentally picked book 2 (The Lovers) up in B&N so I had to buy this one on Kindle so I could read them in order. Tarot based fantasy romance? Why yes, please do sign me up. 😄

Over halfway done and contemplating dropping it. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The world building, yes, but more so the politics, which just really seem counterproductive to this society's survival. Ex: no marriage because it led to the downfall of the world. Well, ok, HOW? We aren't told and that doesn't make sense at all, that a custom as old as time, is banned. I don't see how this would have been a thing.

So far, it's pretty dang funny and interesting. I'm loving Sir Cameron! He's very flamboyant and has an undeserved air of self importance, but in a way that makes the story entertaining. 😂

I wish FMC hadn't forgiven MMC so easily. I was forewarned of power imbalances between the two but that doesn't necessarily equate to the thoughts, feelings, and actions. If she was faking forgiveness, that's one thing, but she's genuine and I wish she had held onto her hurt and anger longer. A man who always gets his way will always expect it to be so. So don't give him the satisfaction, make him work for it.

Have to say, I absolutely hate the pet names of 'Little Wallflower' and 'Heartbreaker'. Like...nope. it's super annoying how much he calls her Little Wallflower as if that's somehow supposed to either be sexy or endearing. At least she doesn't call him Heartbreaker all that much.

I feel like we could probably wrap it up right here, but i've got something like 16 chapters left....

So much is going on in this story... 52% in, and i'm wondering, how much longer can this book possibly go on? Will she marry Jordan, is her and Vuk going to date and do a 3rd act breakup? I really don't know. 54 chapters seems a little excessive TBH.

I've been wanting to read this book for quite awhile now. It sounds soooo...good. Barely in, and i'm already loving it. :)

Listening to this on Audio, and I can't help but think Ellory Lane's French Accent is *chef's kiss*. I find it more compelling than the male narrator's accent, not that its bad, just not nearly as good as hers.
Story is pretty good. I have a hard time with things steeped heavily in religion, and while it has had its moments the dark romance side of this is balancing it out so I can handle it.

Things are finally starting to happen, but to be honest...I thought by the way book 2 ended this would be more action filled. I've also counted up to 7 povs, so i'm really not happy with the constant back and forth with every chapter. (Silla, Saga, Hekla, Rey, Jonas, Queen Signe, and Kassandar so far have POVs)

well...that prologue was quite the eye opener of what I have to look forward to...

I swear each installment adds more povs. I'm up to 6 POVs and I'm only on chapter 5. Uggggh.
