Kind of bored. It's the same dialogue on repeat, stalling for the sake of dragging the story out, obvious information that's being overlooked, and defiance for the sake of defiance. The chemistry feels dull, nothing has been earned, the world building is minimal and at times vague and confusing. Not sure I'm getting through this, but for now I'm going to keep trying.

I read the sample and decided this was pretty interesting. I've read a couple of series by Emma Hamm, and I'm still very undecided on this author. This book kind of sounds like zombie apocalypse, meets dead gods, meets a resurrected princess out for revenge. It's an interesting idea, and so I'm just intrigued enough to take a risk on it. Fingers crossed lovelies.

This is a beautiful story. Wonderful writing and characters. The issue I'm having is with myself. This is a fantasy world with fantasy rules. However, I'm like, why is a seamstress allowed to be so involved with the royal family? I feel like she would have been put in her place, rather than a prince falling in love with her and allowing her to insert herself into politics and places she shouldn't be.

Reading on Audio and yep, it's fantastic.

Listening via Audible. Male narrator is doing a wonderful job. Very good job acting out the dialogue despite the material being meh. Female narrator is getting on my last nerve. She's trying to be dramatic in the worst way. Dragging out and emphasizing words constantly. Gah. Who approved her segments? Bleh.

Well, I'm not sleeping tonight. Well done Riley. I'm absolutely terrified of snakes and you've managed to give me nightmare fuel. I told my husband I'm going to be paranoid of snakes for the next few months, thanks to this book.

So glad I have the special edition of this book on its way. This book is so atmospheric and it's giving me all the chills and thrills. I love a haunted house story. This one is in the same vein as the TV show Haunting of Hill House which, simultaneously terrified me, while also making me love every second of it. I'm enamored with the writing. *Chef's kiss*

Its trying to be mysterious, but obviously we know who both of them are. lol. Otherwise its an interesting Romantasy. Sera seems like a strong and capable woman.

A whole lot of fluff without much substance here, and so i'm struggling to get through this. 600 pages, this did not need to be.

Well, I didn't expect to cry, much less, crying multiple times. I wasnt prepared for it in the slightest. This book is sugar sweet but wow does it pack in those emotional gut punches.

I had a moment of being worried I wouldn't pick this back up, even though I love this story. I hit a reading slog, and put it on pause. I'm listening to it on Audible and that can be challenging when I'm multitasking as I feel I miss out on crucial things. Still, the characters are so good, they feel like friends you want to keep visiting with, so I couldn't leave it alone for too long.

Absolutely adore how spooky this is. It has a warning on it 'may invoke feelings of despair over large family gatherings' ...and yeah I'm there, I get it, and this book is doing it's job perfectly.

The story is getting progressively better. I finally got the kissing scene I was waiting for and was subsequently annoyed as it was cut short, but oh boy, the emotion! I hope I get more and it's not a 1 and done, like book 2 was. 2...*sigh*

Too many povs. 12% in and we are up to 4 already. I don't like it. The story is ok so far if not overly inspired. Same song and dance.

umm but like, why? None of the story has been romantic. There is 0 chemistry between these two beyond business partners and suddenly they're having spicy times? Honestly i zoned out through most of it; felt so disconnected from the story. I don't understand why we even have it in here. There was no tension to lead up to it, no longing, no culmination of feelings. For once, I 100% could have done without it.

Its so freaking slow, and not really interesting. We do a lot of talking about a heist but with the way this is going, that'll be at the end of this book. Its a lot of details about the society and fairytales, it feel like its yadda yaddaing about everything but nothing really important.

I should not be listening to this at work. Period. It's very dark, raw, and emotional. The amount of suffering these two have already gone through and I'm not halfway done yet. Holy smokes. I knew this was going to be heavy dealing with people being kidnapped and later becoming survivors but I don't think one can ever be truly ready for this content. Emotionally I feel stripped down. I'm hanging in there though.

I picked this up for a niche reason, but honestly I was almost through the sample and it had me tearing up, so I decided to buy and read. It seems like a comedy, especially regarding title, but the beginning has darker themes since Poppy is a legally blonde-esque lawyer battling SA cases...and that is heavy. It's not sparing punches and I admire that. It's a brutal topic and I feel the author is doing it right.

Struggling to find my footing in this right now. I think I need a break.

Admittedly, this feels like a long book, but not in a bad way. It's a lot of fun. It's what I would want Assistant to the Villain to be. It's hilarious, it's dark, it's sexy, and the romance and banter are top notch. The plot is great. I love the MCs and their dynamics. I love how Kazimir is very uplifting of Arabella. He doesn't overshadow her, he's there to empower her. And. I. Am. Here. For. It. This is so good!

I'm struggling with this. The steam is steamy. I don't mind the Mafia man and Cam-girl/club owner angle, but I'm having issues with their past and the current relationship. Particularly, "he ruined my life. My body is saying yes while my mind is saying no." I hate body betrayal tropes. I don't feel the chemistry here, and quite frankly I'm not a fan of Junior. Everything else is fine though.

Still adoring Wendell. Bringing along the man who wants him fired just so he can make him a very good cup of coffee, had me ROFL.
Emily: God I love her strength and her icy demeanor. She can shut a man down like no one's business and keep her head cool always. I love that she's extremely rational. I can't wait for her to say "yes" to Wendell. Side note: hope Shadow is well. He's such a good boy. He's best boy.

I wasn't sure if I could get into the story, seeing as its Faerie. Most books nowadays are some Romantasy version that feels bastardized, but this book feels like reading an expedition log/diary combined with those old Irish folklore tales of faeries, its cozy. Also, Wendell makes this story for me. I find him vastly amusing. I love that Emily (EM) isn't a sweet MC but a dragon lady. Shes a strong FMC, which I love.

Somehow I missed this one coming out. Even though I adored One Percent Of You, I had that thought of 'what if I don't love this?'. That would break my heart. But Yeah...The forward already got me. This sounds like it has anxiety rep in it, so I'm curious on what that will look like with this author. I'm so excited to get to read this.

How am I only 42% into this book? It feels so long and really not much has happened beyond smut. So much smut. Like, I'm up to my eyeballs in smut. 👀

So, the spice scene (HIGH emotional spice but it's a more "fade to black" scene than anything) was sooo good; I literally got butterflies while reading it. I've fallen for the characters, but right now, I'm PO at Mercy. My heart is breaking for Hart. So yeah, I'm in for the long haul but Mercy can suck a bag of D right now.

It's...an odd fantasy book. A bit annoyed that I'm 20% in and the two MCs have had 1 face to face conversation and it was ridiculously short. Is this a romance? I thought it was.
