Unfortunately the end of this series is extremely underwhelming. All four books could have been great if it was just one novel.
But literally 60% of each book seemed like sexual tension/ activity that was always just thrown in at the worst times.
The book actually ended with them in bed… ugh
What was the point of her being pregnant?

I don’t understand why it’s so hard for her to see what’s right in front of her face???? Why the denial? It’s pointless and irritatingly naive.

Nothing happened in between at all. NOTHING. She didn’t even take the test!
Book 4 and the entire series is still a 2.5⭐️
It’s an audiobook and it’s not even keeping me entertained as I clean my house.
Boring!

The playing dumb thing is really irritating.
An entire chapter was skating around ONE SENTENCE. A sentence that wasn’t even a surprise.
Constant hints at what’s going to happen next and ZERO wow factor/ surprise element.
That’s annoying.
Also I hate the whole “let’s have sex 20 times a day just so I can deny Im pregnant, even though my boobs are sensitive and I can’t remember my last period BS

Honestly Eli doesn’t seem ALL that bad, but I get it. He has everything planned out. I doubt it matters who is beside him when he already knows how his woman will have to let him lead. Who wants to stay pregnant for 3-5 years making a family?

But I’m not gonna DNF it, 1. It’s an audiobook so I really don’t care and 2. Im too busy cleaning my kitchen to really be annoyed by the games they really don’t want to play with each other.
Ill blame poor writing and 0 plot design.

I always have too many emotions when reading a book about black women.
It reads like a diary to me.
Something you’d find while cleaning out a closet in your grandparents home.
Giving you more information than you’re prepared to grieve over but knowing that -as a black woman- we typically persevere.

This woman is breaking her own heart holding onto this man.
It’s not fun to read how desperate and broken they feel for each other. He’s a coward and she’s a fool.
Because why would yall even start something so doomed!?
Also… the King … actually both of them… are asshats.

It’s not boring… it’s actually well written, but it’s too predictable. The only thing that’s shocked me is Rowan’s friend being a serial suicidist (I know it’s not a word, but in this world of “Merica”, it fits) and that the world is clearly overpopulated so what’s was/is the point of the resuscitating hospitals?
I already know what Goddard is trying to do with his new pool boy but why? Insanity?
