Vol3: I rather liked the dynamic between Fei Du and Luo Wenzhou in this one, but the detective storyline bored me a bit.

The second volume wasn’t as interesting as the first one, but maybe that’s because I read it right after rereading Lolita. Too much of the same topic? Too big a difference between the styles and the depth of it? I don’t know tbh, but I did enjoy the twist on the identity of the villain in this one.

Volume 1:

Engaging enough, and a fun reading right after The Red and The Black. I’m going to read the classic that inspired it before each volume now, because although it didn’t help solve the case much, but I still very much enjoyed looking for the clues :)

Had a rough start with this one, but it grew on me. It’s something a bit out of my comfort zone, and I wonder where the guy from the first part of the book has disappeared to, but it’s hard to put down once I pick it up.

I know why the book club I’m in has been choosing these popular books, but why are all of them so… mediocre at best? 😅 The first couple of lines of Brigi’s 4-star review is the only thing that’s currently keeping my hopes up %)
Anyway, I need to go check if I’m right and no one could actually have got “mic’ed up” back in the 50s because they had these giant mics instead. Because it bothers me 😅

Since Goodreads isn’t available without vpn in my country anymore for some reason, I’ve moved everything to Storygraph. И книжка нравится, и совместные чтения пока прикольные. Надолго ли хватит %)

Этот момент, как в Локе с Томом Харди, когда ты понимаешь, что главная героиня всю книжку проведет в лифте 😁
Это будет или очень круто, или очень плохо, я думаю. Пока скорее первое!

Что-то никак не могу влиться в историю. Если так и дальше пойдет - и эту серию придется бросить 😅

Нравится, что лисицы в этих историях обычно вполне себе милые.
А ещё что первая и вторая жены регулярно друг друга любят чуть не больше мужа %)
