What happened to yearning? PLS! PLEASE? In romance books, in film, in tv. A man absolutely heartbroken, shaking, celibate, pining, WISHING, wanting, crying over his mistakes. YEARNING from afar. Building up to a simple touch, a long glance. Even shows don’t do this anymore and wonder WHY half the girlies have binned American tv shows, hate manwhores and watch kdramas/turkish dramas.

I just had this fleeting thought that I would love to read a story about a heroine who feels utterly intellectually inadequate for their job, to the point of sinking into depression. I'm tired of super geniuses as leads; I want to connect w/ my lead. Bring on the love story with all its emotions, but let her be a jumble of professional doubt.

I’m so pissed. I’ve been hearing about Haunting Adeline for ages. Silly ol’ me thought oh, “Hunting Adeline” is the first book. One letter off. I’m 40% through dawning that I’m reading the second instalment thinking why am I missing a huge chunk of the back story 😭

Going to be real… I hate the way BookTok has diminished the integrity of a Goodreads review. One-liners will get people to read a bad book. All of my reads have been condensed into poor tiktok recommendations that are assessed based on tropification and "spice" level; I’ve had to follow suit. Finding a true story or connecting with complex personalities is challenging now. Love spice w substance🫠

Why is Goodreads so regressive?! Hire someone to fix this app so I can flipping filter through the shelves and shit better, and actually find the story I’m looking for 😭 I need flipping hashtags because sometimes I only remember a character name and not the title of the book 🤕

Welp. Guys I’m barely on here anymore. I’m sad but honestly don’t seem to be finding books when I scroll through my home feed, so my attention has just yeeted elsewhere or I’m rereadings faves. If anyone comes across a good and safe romance, pls do your civic duty and let a girl know!! Good with paranormal, thriller too. ❤️❤️

Ladies, imagine how happy I was to get 5 whole DMs about Turkish romance series to watch LOL. Anyway here are recommendations if anyone is AT ALL interested. Most are on YouTube or Turkish123 w eng subtitles. Idc if this is a book site 😅🤪:

These authors need to start specifying what they mean when they say a character is “Asian” bc it’s looking very clown worthy in 2021. Asia is a hugely diverse continent. East is usually what Americans refer to (China/Japan/Korea etc); West (Afghanistan/Lebanon/Armenia etc) you can’t homogenise this as the “Middle East”; South is usually what Brits refer to (Indian/Bangladesh/Pakistan).

I’m really hoping this book is worth it. Reviews have pumped it up, and so far it’s been engaging. Protagonist is a psychologist providing professional medical testimony for inmates. Can’t wait for the psychological, thriller aspect with f*cked up unreliable POVS.

Every once in a while it’ll come to my attention that some reviewer has trolled my one star reviews leaving comments like a personal defence attorney for the author. Darling eat a Kit Kat, grab a hot tea, and do some work you’re actually getting paid for. Doesn’t matter how much I love a book... Any person can criticise a book if they didn’t enjoy it and paid. Simple as.

I really, really want to read a “romance” with a bitchy, insecure, manipulative heroine who engineers herself into the hero’s life. Normally the shoe is on the other foot. I just find them so fleshed out, vivid, interesting and relatable. Like Tarryn Fisher heroines without being completely demented, and unfaithful.

It’s going so well. I love it! I’ve been cheesing the whole way through😁. Only problem so far is hero/heroine are in their late 30s/early 40s but inner monologues and actions read as late 20s/early 30s.

I know this is ridiculous. I know! But does anyone else get salty and annoyed when reading a romance sex scene in a book and the heroine’s private’s is ALWAYS “pretty plush pink”! I mean where’s the LOVE for roast beef? Or purple? Or gradient coloured vags. Pisses me off bc “beauty standards”. 😒

What’s everyone up to in quarantine? I’ve watched Elite S2, Love is Blind, Trials of Gabriel Fernandez, finished The Good Place, Crash Landing On You (my first ever Kdrama), Ercenki Kus (my first ever Turkish drama with the hottest leads ever😍).
Also drop any safe books below with Virgin hero’s, because I’ve been coming across too much manwhore trash lately and need a palette cleanser.

Does anyone else feel like there was a peak period during which there were amazing books one after another. Favourites that still are from like 2014-2017? And now demand isn’t meeting supply because I can genuinely say I haven’t really been enjoying or finding the romance material I’m reading memorable.

I shall let you all know! Because I love Anna Zaires and every book I’ve read of hers is safe but if she pulls anything... my saltiness will show.

Side note; Goodreads should have a like button for comments like Facebook/Instagram. Because sometimes that’s all I wna do, like a comment because I completely agree, or have seen it.

Guys I want to clarify, since I’ve been asked a few times, the problem for me is not having a virgin heroine. I mean how can you criticise someone’s agency and choice. The problem is always having a virgin heroine paired up with a total manwhore. The formula never switches up.

2019 has been the year of trying to find decent books to the point where I changed my reading target.
2018, bang; 150 shitty books, 50 great. Easy pickings.
Now it’s like I’m in a desert trying to find some water. 😶

Loool, an author liked my review and then promptly unliked it because whilst that particular book was good, and I praised it in my review, in the second paragraph, I basically shitted/and cussed out another series of hers where her plot-lines/characters were abysmal. 😂😂 Read before you like.

On the other hand I watched the ted bundy documentary & started One tree hill - hella cringey. 🤷‍♀️ I like family oriented shows/dramas so if anyone has recs for that too.
