There's slowburn. And there's... whatever this annoying thing is. Vague boundaries, weird energy. The things went from "the guy I lowkey thought was attractive at school" to a "man I love for 20 years" like how?
And the whole calling Nico a baby? At least this baby is actually trying to communicate instead of... whatever this two cavemen doing.

I'm almost a quarter book in, and only now they mention someone having a slim waist. Feels late for danmei tbh.

Gosh darn it, I haven't expected this book to be so exciting!
Maybe I should pay more attention to popular books (tho its popularity made me read ice planet barbarians and I still get random heebie-jeebies remembering it)

The amount of frustration these books give me is no joke. I'm annoyed bc books are good, characters are messed up but I totally get why - which is great. But this amount of pent up stress and angst without any proper release and catharsis is ridiculous.

One fifth in and I'm yet to encounter sexual consent. For the book that was soooooo popular a while back, I expected it to be... Nicer? Softer?

The cover convinced me it's YA and every time the book tells me it's not I get a whiplash.

Istg mates are a known thing in this universe and it was said in the previous book that all of the immortal/long lived species have something like it. So every time a character says they don't know why they're drawn to this one person for no reason, I want to slap my face and groan (and sometimes I do).

I like the world and some background characters, but the main love line in this one is soooo meh. It's giving nothing. At. All.

I hope it's just a case of 'game changer' as a series starter before 'heated rivalry' hits
