Ugh I still think having female gargoyles that cannot shift into a gargoyle is the dumbest thing ever.

I suspect the author wanted an 'not like other girls'-trope in the beginning but with the world getting bigger (and more interaction between women) they have regrets? Because the new female gargoyle has 'respect' but I do not find it believable at all... Just make it so that all female gargoyles can shift.

Trying to read this on the train while rolling my eyes is impossible. Every time I try to get past the stupid, yet highly emotional, moment of kissing I just get irritated and switch to something else.

Funny to discover that I actually can have certain scenes that put me into a reading slump. Normally it is not that noticeable.

The narrator is absolutely fantastic.

I was thinking about why it is taking me this long to finish this book. It is a quiet kind of love story. But it also feels very easy? A bit too much telling and not showing? It is not badly written, yet a bit boring at times. This should be right up my alley and yet...

It is written very well but it is still eye roll worthy when characters will kiss in a high pressure situation.

Churchill I can see, despite him being a massive dick. Thatcher... Her politics were very divisive as a whole. Maybe I should try to find some material that is a bit more positive about her instead of neutral. Because I think she was also a dick in both her personality and political actions.

It is funny because on his deathbed I could see how the dad thought the love (affaire) wasn't worth it. Not because he hurt the woman he married but his career. Someone who advices to go for a career instead of love (with a good person) has some loose screws.
