completely forgot i was reading this, so i guess that tells you all you need to know about my reading experience lol

wasn't expecting the love interest to be an immortal and now it kinda feels like this story is all over the place. dialogue also feels off, but the pacing is quick. i think i can finish this tonight or tmr

ive thought about dnfing this so many times. i fear there's no getting better from here. something about how dis SGJ book is written is making me wanna go to bed

reasons i wont dnf
1. beautiful edition
2. i want it to count for this year's reads lol
3. teeny tiny bit curious to see if it gets better since it has so many high ratings from friends

fmc's lowkey a bit annoying, there's a part where she's complaining about having to sell low-quality flowers because her rich bouquets aint selling and im like yea, people are struggling gurl.

her pov also contains a character i cannot stand who says shit like "by nature, im perceptive to all dimensions of experience" gtfoooo

i kinda find the concept of a rich girl with so many resources at her disposal trying to figure everything out "on her own" kinda irritating because it's not like her livelihood is ever actually on the line??

she has a huge safety net and isn't really risking financial security or survival

gurl, i'd swap lives with you in a heartbeat.

im exhausted, i can physically feel the weight of my eyelids getting heavier the longer i read. it's a wrap at the hour mark



disappointed so far with how boring im finding this, i liked the only good indians well enough but dis? a struggle

oomph. this is... boring. also, there was no reason for chapter 3 to be 34 pages longggg, the prior two chapters weren't that length (╥﹏╥) . will finish this because my edition is beautiful but pls get better. i get so sleepy reading this.

By the end of today I'll have finished 5 books during this trip, but I've also bought 4 at indie bookstores around RI lol.

Got my hands on I Who Have Never Known Men, The Left Hand of Darkness, Bunny, the latest Kimberly Lemming book, and The Battle for Paradise.

this just went from 3 to 2 stars w/the final part. narrative structuring changes and now the author is speaking to the reader and showcasing scenes + details away from the main perspectives established - for why???

ALSO - all of part 3, the final part, is one full chapter - that's 95 PAGES - for why (x2)???

something about dis book feels disjointed, it really couldve benefitted from a tighter narrative structure w/a clearer flow. pacing feels a bit stop-and-go.

tbh i won't pick up dis author's work again, i don't think her writing style is for me. still plan on finishing this but did contemplate dnfing.

no likeable characters, so much racism + microaggressions, like, they even feel oddly placed?? shock value maybe.

Was not expecting this book to take place in Florida and involve CSA w/ one of the main POV being the mother of the perp - who supports + loves her son no matter what. Decided to keep on reading after reflecting on whether or not this would trigger me and... it's fine? Having a LOT of thots tho.

Only graphic scene so far is between a FMC and her gf.
Don't quite think this style of narrative structuring is for me.

listened to the majority of this late in the evening during a 4 hr drive and the vibes were superb. really enjoying this and how faulted each of the characters are. curious to see how this will end.

im having such a good time reading this despite the fact that i find the fmc annoying at times and the writing is... not great lol

also is this queer???? because i feel like the main girlie is in love w/her bestie + i ship that hardcore but the narrative layout looks like it's leading toward a main coupling with the celebrity dude which *sigh* would be disappointing

is this great? no lol - is this a fun read? yea

dis book has no business being this long -.- like, for why??? Good at first but now i feel like it's dragging onnnnnnn

also, if this is bdsm content then it's the most vanilla type out there. I feel like the 'kinkiest' thing the author is doing is mild dirty talk + commands and sex w/o prep (which yikes, even if she is "super whet")

I swear he's called her honey like 10x in the last 2 chapters. it's thrown off his tone + feels like it's forced w/how often it was shoved down my eyeballs. also idk how these two adults are still coming across as so juvenile to me lol lifetime film w/b rated actors lol

Appreciating the pain showcased with the realities of workin a ranch. That shit is HARD on you. Still think the romance is cheesy af but sure is easy to read.
