A sex scene in the prologue is WILD

The way I don't understand why everyone is so pissed off at Brynn. Like...she didn't kill Mr. Solomon and his body probably wouldn't have been discovered for a LONG time if they hadn't gone to his house. And the knowledge that she has an internship is none of her friends' business. This bit of conflict feels pretty forced, not gonna lie.

Joanne's hypocrisy is really coming out in this one cause we've spent the whole series demonstrating how evil saying mudblood and performing unforgivable curses is but when HARRY does both of those things in this one we're not supposed to question it and just continue to accept that it's okay when he does it and he's still of absolute pure heart with no darkness in him whatsoever. Okay!

This is one of those "protagonist that's intentionally flat so the reader can project themselves onto her" books but tbh it works well here cause yeah girlie has total amnesia and doesn't know anything about who she is so it makes sense that she doesn't have a very deep sense of identity

The writing style is SO Stephanie Garber coded and I'm loving it!

This lowkey has the same pacing structure as Divergent in that nothing really happens for 75% of the book and then all of a sudden we're leading some kind of action-packed revolution.

This book does NOT answer ANYTHING about the original trilogy and instead actually takes the Rowling approach to dealing with plot holes with the attitude of "That's just how things are. Don't question it and get over it"

Might be a little early to say but lowkey I think the bea reading order of this series is not in publication order but in timeline order

There are so many examples in this series that Rowling writes men and women with the same mindset as a sexist male author and the whole Fleur plotline is just the latest one. But it's also very much giving anti-immigrant/anti-foreigner (she did the same in GoF.)

Like, yeah Fleur is slightly rude at times but not at ALL enough to warrant the intense HATRED that the Weasley women/Hermione immediately have for her.

The story is fine enough but this audiobook is edited horrendously

The concept of having your main character go from being indifferent to slavery, to being pro-slavery, to owning a slave over the course of 3 books...

Never in my life did I expect to feel actual tension from a middle grade book but here we are woah

I'm seeing why this is a classic that has merit being taught in schools but it's not for the commonly cited reason of the whole class division thing. This book does well at transporting you back to a different time. Especially in the vocabulary, this does a great job of making a kid actually have to think and dissect the text to figure out what the characters are saying with the slang.
