I can’t believe I’m reading a romance about golf-playing rich white Southerners >>.>> wtf has become of the m/m romance genre??? Joking aside, I am totally open for new perspectives, but I have to get used to this one still. I like the writing so far, it feels new and distinct, not like many generic contemporaries that all sound the same

Cheeeeezus this is boring. My mind keeps wandering off because it's so hard to focus on this bland inane story. Hope it picks up soon

I can't tell you how much I love that the FMC is not a 17-year-old with perfect skin and no brain. Instead she is in her 30s or 40s (not mentioned), taller than most men, broad-shouldered, heavily scarred. This is amazing. And even though this book, imho, really doesn't need a romance subplot, I love that a woman like her gets to be a love interest as well.

Wonderful writing and a rich story world. It's been a long time since a fantasy novel pulled me in so deeply I forgot the real world

The thought of Felix as a spiritual guide makes me shudder. He shouldn't guide anyone, couldn't bc he's so self-involved he'd have no clue where to. Also, what would he be the god of, petty revenge?

Ugh I forgot how much I dislike everyone but Ezra. Felix is a petty, entitled, whiny, self-centred twat. Everyone's so annoying.

Finding Harry Potter references in a book by a trans author about a trans MC hits differently, man. Of course, this book was published just before JKR's transphobia blew up online and became widely known (less than a month, in fact).

So silly but also hilarious

I just cannot muster up the energy to give a single f**k about the delicate little problems of young rich white people. The characters in this book are so privileged and whiny I can't help but hate them. Also, women these days are all about decentring men (rightfully!) and here's Eve hinging her entire self worth on one arrogant asshole man.

In German there's a (somewhat archaic) expression for suicide that literally translates to 'free death'. I like it much more than the more modern 'self-murder.'

8 hours into the audiobook and still not even a kiss. this book is taking slow burn to the next level. I'm enjoying it, though; it's different. With many run-of-the mill contemporary romances, the you already know the plot before you even start to read. Not a chance with this book. It's much more character than plot driven anyway

Will it ever end 😩

Why can't dead characters ever stay dead? I hate this rewritten history stuff and how long it's being dragged out. It's annoying, confusing, and boring at the same time bc no plot is happening.

This is Legends & Lattes all over again - same premise, same excruciatingly slow pacing with no plot to speak of. This is just not my kind of book. I'm only pushing through this bc I'm reading it for a challenge.

Why won't this book end 😭 I've been picking it up for weeks now and still so far to go

This is one of those ‘lost young white woman looking for meaning/ happiness/fulfilment attaches herself to an older/successful/worldly man in hopes for guidance’ books that usually don’t work for me at all because I look down on people who don’t have real problems despite a little early-adulthood existential crisis with contempt. I should hate it - but I dont! I love the writing, it's witty, endearing, and eloquent
