I had so many thoughts yesterday that I swapped to my laptop to write these updates.
*Kink shaming seems so off topic from last chapter. Reads more like Hoover's input than Lowen's.
*Three paragraphs in a row start with "I (verb)", one even being "I think," followed by the creative "I like to think."
*Showing carelessness about her mom again, but still don't by guilt was enough of a motive to care.

I'm doing one big push and finishing up "The Bad Book." No sleep until this nightmare is over.

*Lowen writes suspense, which I'm not the most familiar with, but some amount of foresight and clever foreshowing is a big part of the genre, no? Nothing about her makes me think she writes suspense. She doesn't seem clever enough. I could buy romance or general lit-fic (not that those writers are dumb, but they don't require the intensive plotting of a mystery, for example). But suspense? And again, the odds that this one mega writer loves her work enough to pitch she finishes her series? Suspense isn't a small genre. It's possible, sure, if three other coincidences didn't already occur.
*Also, what does her writing suspense have to do with snooping on her ex? Those don't seem like similar skillsets. Again, doesn't seem clever enough
*I was thinking this last night, but Lowen feels like a self-insert character. 90% this book was originally self-pub too, which only makes me double-down. --> A quick google search confirms the self-pub assumption. Small-time suspense writer gets noticed by a rich guy... yeah, no parallels between Lowen and Hoover... This is all one big fantasy for Hoover isn't it :| Some thoughts should remain inside.
*Paragraph filled with sentences that are all "I (verb)" or "(Filler) I (verb)"
*Wait, didn't Lowen recognize Verity by name? They're in the same genre but she hasn't read her work? Press F to doubt. fffffff
*The whole premise for Lowen to go to the Crawford house reeks of for-the-plot. Why can't Verity's notes be mailed to her? I get that Jeremy or whatever hot-guy's name is doesn't know what is/is not important, but if something seemed to be missing, she could just call the house, right?
*Ope, Corey had the same point as me. Hoover clearly realized that readers would think the same, had a character voice that, and just didn't do anything to remedy it?
*Why are you defending Jeremy? What happened to the self preservation you had in the bathroom? He can't be THAT hot.
*Somehow, Verity is the only character I don't hate, and I haven't even seen her on the page. I get the feeling I'm supposed to hate her (or will soon based on the jacket cover) but I think in the end that they're all gonna be bad people.
