Gina, I love him.
(tries to sneak Cornelius away like he's a plushie in a claw machine)
Awwww that makes me so happy. 😊 Our dear Cornelius! As I wrote the character, he truly wove his way into my heart. With each new line and turn in the story, I began to learn more and more about him, as if he were slowly becoming HIM, as if he were a real person. (Ok, I'm a crazy writer, but . . . he's real to me!) Needless to say, I was eager for readers to meet Cornelius and hoped that they would care about him, too.
One of my beta readers uses the term "friends of the trio" for those who enjoy PRINCE OF CHANDELIERS. And so, this may sound strange to say (albeit not in my unhinged writerly world 😉 ), but I use "our" in the first paragraph because I have come to realize that anyone who cares in that way has almost become part of the fabric of the story itself. Like we're all friends with Cornelius, or whoever the reader's favorite character is, or the trio as a whole.
(Hehehe love this imagery! Now I actually want a plushie version of Cornelius lol! POC MERCH, anyone?? Ahaha. Ohhh, I know . . . a shapeshifting toy where Cornelius essentially turns back and forth between a pillar and himself. 😂🤣 )

Not crazy at all!! Feeling your characters have a life of their own is how you know you're on the right track as a writer.
Madam, "friends of the trio" and your openheartedness in sharing your characters and world with us is unbelievably sweet. I am honored to be a Friend of Cornelius.
(ehehe. Plushies for all! And a shapeshifter doll is not entirely impossible...)

Aww thank you so much on all counts, BookmarkedOne. *I* am honored by your kind words and honored that you are a Friend of Cornelius.
And my pleasure. I'm a very sentimental writer (and person), which means that I am deeply touched by such things and can't help but be expressive about them.
(YES. True!)

I mean, I'm very enthusiastic about the whole bard concept. XD So, clearly, he had to not only be a shapeshifting court jester, but, as you put it, A MAGIC BARD. ;)
