This book really cements how much of a threat North Korea poses. Not only that, but the lack of information about their military and nuclear forces is really dangerous because they have the capabilities to start the war.

All it really takes is a mad leader from their end. I find discomfort in how secluded North Korea is from the rest of the world, it’s their biggest advantage to a nuclear-related scenario.

What this tells me is that humans didn’t know when to stop once the discovery of nuclear and atomic weapons were made. Because of this, their further development becomes a looking threat that could be triggered at any moment.

I never realized how the 21st century humanity relies heavily on electricity on such a functional and systematic level. Because of this, all it takes is a satellite in the sky to destroy humanity.

Not right away like nuclear weapons would. But slowly and surely. And that’s just as terrifying.

Honestly, I think the psychological impact regarding shutting down the argument of the Secdef not killing the other half of humanity who happen to be Russians is a racial thing. Not only because both countries have been historically at war but patriotism has given way to a stubborn decision not to let Russians outlive Americans.

I think this could be the same for every country if they were in this scenario.

I didn’t think about how history can be used as a receipt to fuel paranoia in a nuclear war. In this case, United States has political examples that warrant the Russian government convinced despite having reasons not to.

Trust between world leaders is easy to evaporate in a nuclear war.

This scenario really explains the complications to be considered in a nuclear wear. I understand the insane price to pay in just a mere attempt to “restore deterrence”. It really just proves how irreversible this event is as soon as it happens and there’s no other way to move forward but to counter once attacked.

It just keeps getting worse, with the superpowers involved. Russia hasn’t even stepped in yet.

I didn’t think NATO is armed with nuclear weapons considering it’s an organization that supposedly promotes unity and diplomacy among nations. Also I didn’t think much of how important a government hierarchy is until a nuclear attack is launched, because successors would have to be considered and it’s a position that holds so much responsibility.

It really is terrifying how flawed technology still is in-use for a nuclear war because they could accidentally start it like Russia’s flawed early-warning system! Not only that but all nuclear weapons available in the United States can be used all at once over a mere universal unlock code.

There’s a lot of secret safeguards installed in these systems that guarantee a break from deterrence. It’s scary!
