Figured out what I dislike about the writing so much. Every description is a simile. Every noise is like some animal. Every gaze is the prick of a needle, or a nettle, or some such prodding device. Like. As. Such.

Yeah, not super sold on the inclusion of fae in a Robin Hood story. Also, so not charmed by our Robin here either. I’ve admittedly only just met him, but he’s coming off as less of a plucky trickster and more of an “alpha male” type. I’ve yet to be sold on the necessity of this being a Robin Hood retelling at all.
