"Jo won't be the one moving out to live with a romantic partner, and that makes her both value friendship more and become frustrated when others don't value it as much... which is what Jo wants: a non-romantic, cohabitating relationship, the 'kind that would last for a lifetime.'"
Something so poignant and so sad about just wanting others to value friends as much as you do and they don't 💔

Still thinking about the asexual bechdel test. Im irked!!!!! Im irked. Why does it have so many caveats. Why don't fantasy, sci fi, or YA books count??? That makes no sense you're inhibiting your own pool!!! And there are SO many kids books that don't feature romance in any way! Many kids books aren't merely meant for kids but are good for all ages! Don't ignore them!!! I'm a librarian I'm heated

"How can we feel okay claiming asexuality when so many factors make it easy to doubt? And WHEN are we allowed to stop questioning?"

Paraphrasing but, shouldn't accept someone as ace/trans/gay/etc only because they COULDN'T meet the "normal/expected" metric. Just because a "lack" of desire is there doesn't mean you are "wanting" and it's a harmful expectation !!!!! Asking "but did you try" is silly

"...my failure of imagination..."
"Other stories were available. I might have seen asexuality as a form of power that makes me IMPERVIOUS in a way others are not..."
"'...I don't feel like I'm missing out on something enjoyable when you're watching your friends crying over a boy or crying over not having a boy.'"
"In her view, being ace is the default. Everything else is extra effort."

thinking a lot about how "sexuality" is a much bigger word than just "orientation," can also refer to fantasy, sex drive, etc. and yet we use it like all it means is the type of person you are attracted to. but it's a lot more than just that! very well put.
