The level of writing leaves something to be desired for sure. “This time because everything in his life rode on the result of his audition he was nervous, as opposed to the other time he had an audition that didn’t actually matter in any way.” Well yeah I would assume so. Also not the most compelling way of getting that across, and this is how everything is presented.

I didn’t think it was possible but I hate Theos parents even more than I hate Theo. What is wrong with that family! “Did my son leave you provided for” reasonable after a four week relationship. Jesus. The mom saying she still “doesn’t have a life” twenty years after divorcing Theos dad… okay pathetic

Hate that the love interest is named Jens for personal reasons. Also Jens: “I would love her regardless of her circumstances ! But I love her because she sings beautifully and because her face is beautiful! But my love is deep and genuine…” i can’t remember how old this guy is but he’s drinking so not 12 I presume

The “past” chapters are not spellbinding but definitely a step up. At least I don’t have to hear about fucking Theo… have only been listening so far since my book hasn’t arrived yet. I do wish the narrator would just… pronounce the Norwegian names normally… the English narration with the overly “native” pronunciation is a bit much imo

The fact that he kicked her off the boat called her sweetheart ordered her ”as her captain” to stop arguing with him when he didn’t have a fucking leg to stand on only to then create some dramatic fucking Titanic level dramatic scene. I HOPE HIS FUCK ASS DROWNS!!!

“You know I loathe women who wear a lot of makeup” unfortunately it’s this fucking book that’s gonna let me finally live my lifelong dream of phasing through pages into a story just so I can kill Theo with my bare hands. I’ve never worn makeup a day in my life but that is NOT THE POINT!!!

😂 I wonder if the Dutch translator made the writing less awkward, cause I don't remember hating the writing style
