I really like the response of the Kwen, Tiranish and Highmages to the truth being exposed. Because this whole story really is such an allegory to modern colonialism and imperialism. Except at least in fiction, people react to their anger than just stand by from desensitization.

Thomil is right again. That Highmage Bringham would know and he was expecting for Sciona to confront him about it too. This just goes to show how systematic the problem is. Almost every mage knows and they don’t care because they either genuinely believed they are chosen people or it’s the only excuse they have to justify being called murderers. Her mentor is no different unfortunately.

I’m not going to lie, the format of the magic system makes the science behind certain things very confusing to understand from a reader’s perspective. I had a hard time following along Sciona and the alchemist doctor’s conversation. I think some things are just too technical to be making metaphors out of it.

Sciona went too far. I understand how she refused to believe what’s right in front of her. But she really just killed an innocent woman for the sake of proving herself correct. She’s too brainwashed to even hear Thomil’s words. I like this choice because she had to experience the consequences herself to get it through her head. I just don’t know how it would go with Thomil.

Omg. Holy shit. So basically, the mage are secretly using Kwen’s realm as the energy to power the city. Sciona improving the long forgotten original spell in color and HD practically showed them the truth. That the mages are the Blight themselves and the newly improved spell is actually by design to keep the so called window vague and unknown.
